Well I finally got to start it,
finished for now.
Donald
I’ve been waiting to see you get stuck into this one Donald, I’ll be following as you go eagerly to see what you picking up as you go along.
Keith
Thank you Don, this looks a nice kit (I haven’t started either of mine yet, busy assembling various extras (Jason Studios crew & accessories, AFV M-60 parts etc.) Your photo build/logs are a great asset, Thanks for contributing these to the forums.
Wishing you good health & Happy Holidays.
I have the AFV parts ordered, it is slow going as I have to hunt all over the instructions for what goes where and what color; I have most of the assemblies that go on the inside walls installed.
I’ll probably post some painting pics. tomorrow.
Regards.
Donald
I look forward to your progress. Several of the AFV items (Grenades, M60 MG w/mounts were out of stock.) However great service from AFV, w/ETA this Friday, just ordered the goodies 12/12!)
Be well.
Waiting for the holidays to end and get mine. Also I usualy use liquid resin to fill the push marks. Easy as 1 2 3. All filled with no sanding. Try it, youll like it!
I just bookmarked your page for reference when I get around to this kit.
Those little parts in photos 9 and 10 are interior “dome” lights. They are usually painted white.
The oval lens is the regular white light, the dark square is the “blackout” light, used at night. Originally they were red, in the 1980s they switched to blue. The projection on the side is the wire connection.

I’ve got the kit, and the experience to go with it… I ran a mech infantry platoon and rode around in those APCs for six months, back in the day (a very long time ago.)
Unfortunately, I never dreamed of taking any photos of my track. I didn’t have the energy to drag around a camera and snap pictures - of course no cell phones with built in cameras - no selfies - back then.
I’ll be starting my own build in a month or two, so I’ll certainly be watching your work…
You are going to have a lot of fun on the interior, especially the Radios.
There are a lot of really tiny decals to go.
I am taking so long for more posts as this is very tedious work, and I already screwed up some of them.
Regards
Donald
not always painted white i have seen them dark green and also in the seafoam colour.
i have heaps of reference pics if anyone wants them. spent 12 1/2 years in carriers and helped with one locally for the last 5 years also
Cool build
Is the Space Heater still in the Right Front Corner?
I installed the ACAV Gun mounts and Shields when I was in NAM.
I don’t remember any heaters. Kind of waste of space there.
Thanks
Donald
Yup, on every one I was ever living in
It looks like I’ll have to install it then.
Here are some Interior Pics. I got off the web.
Looking good. Nice details. One pointer, the bottle on the side wall behind the driver in pic 14 is a halon fire extinguisher and should be red. See your ref pics.
Now this may be a stretch, but I’m going to bet that gray color is primer (seen in two other locations as well) and we haven’t seen the final painting yet.
The bottle appears to be a darker gray than the mystery component in the next photo.
