(A bit late reply, I know, but I’m only now reading this.) Yes, that’s exactly the impression I got from it when walking around in the no-man’s land around West Berlin in the summer of 1990 ![]()
West Berlin to the right, behind the wall, East Berlin to the left, behind the trees which were behind a very heavily built fence made of expanded metal mesh, probably 2 to 3 mm thick (going by memory). That trench in the middle was clearly intended to stop people coming from West to East, the fact that its side towards the wall was near-vertical concrete is surely only to provide cover and not at all to prevent people driving a vehicle towards the West.
I think I saw one of those patrolling the area. More often, though, the patrols came past like this:
The guys on the motorbike, that is, not the cyclists ![]()
This because we were at a campsite in West Berlin that had been built up against the wall, and the street alongside it had been a dead end since the wall went up. But when it came down, somebody knocked down the wall there too and the street was once again usable — mostly by people staying at the camp site, of course. The border guards came looking several times a day, but didn’t stop anyone going into the former no-man’s land. However, they were adamant that nobody could camp there, and anyone who tried (because the camp site was overflowing) was very definitely sent back to the West side of the border.
Just did a test fit of the Mi-8 parts.
This thing is HUGE. I plan on using it unloading a UAZ-469 (Zvezda) as it was used with NVA Fallschirmjäger.
That sounds awesome Hermann- should be a very impressive looking piece.
Hi Karl,
I wait for ICM modern Ukraine Weapon set. NVA Fallschirmjäger used the SPG-9 RR on the truck.
Is the BRM SP designs ?
Yes,.It´s a fine kit.
A “tiny” build today. I made some improvements to Trumpeters 9M111 Fagott missile. I also build a second one folded for carrying
.
Started another exciting project.
