Building the 1/16th. Pakwagen from Das-Werk

Well I said Good By, but I just can’t stay away so I say Hello again. This build is similar to the 251/1 build a while ago but then again different. I plan on doing the Engine as a stand alone build for you can’t see much of it when installed. just check my 261/1 build. OK enough BS . Here is what I have so far.

Finished for now.

What can I say, I just can’t stay away, I’ll just have to slow down so I don’t get burned out again. That Tiger build took a lot out

Working on the Frame.

This version of the Pakwagen has some of the spots where the Wheel Bump Stop mounts filled. If you want the earlier version , the parts are included . It can’t be seen once the Wheels are installed, so it’s your choice.

I drilled out the holes in the Bearing caps as shown.

I didn’t glue the ends yet, this was just for Demo.

I’m finished for today.

Welcome back Donald, glad you’re still in the modeling world. It’s great you came back to it. Fishing is boring and golf is a fool’s errand. How many more 1/16 kits do you have in the stash? Have you ordered the M113 yet?

Just one of Andys early Shermans. I have the M113 on pre order, I am looking forward to that one for in my younger years I worked on installing the Mg positions and Turret side armor. I still havent seen one that was done right.

Nice to see you at it Donald. It will be interesting to have your thoughts on the Das Werk compared to the Trumpy one later in the build. I for one am watching avidly.
The coming M113 is something I wished for but never imagined it would be put into production. Because of that I popped for an Ontos so will be hunting out your old build to dig up some info on it.

Best regards

Here is the engine, it is quite nice. I’m not quite shure of the colors, but I think it looks good.

Since I’m not installing it in the kit, I built a stand to hold it along with the Radiators.

Finished for today.

The decking on the Das-Werk kit has a texture that is lacking on the Trumpeter kit.

I assembled all of the panels to make the front section, it’s easier to handle this way, and you can’t remove them to view the underlying parts anyway.

Actually I should have never installed all of that junk under the decking, it just got in the way on installing the Decking.

The only part of it you need is the small hump on top the transmission.

I’ll be working on the Gun Mount next.

Now the Gun mount, it is quite nice and the fit was really good. I’m thinking about removing the Doors on the Ammo Stowage Bins. They would get in the way of removing rounds to Load the Gun.

It looks better engineered than the trumpeter version to my eye.
