I can’t tell you what to think of the kit , I like it , but I have found some issues that shouldn’t have been.
The only major Issue that I have found so far is the ammo racks and inner supports interfering with the upper hull install. That’s an easy fix which I’ll do when I do the Achillies
Something you all may be interested in , I just ordered the VALUE GEAR sets for both the M10 and the Achillies.
I don’t know if anyone noticed the Periscope Guards on the front hatches , well they don’t come with the kit. I got them from two of the Sherman kits. They give you 4 but you only need 3 there.

I have been working on the Turret , It’s not a really good fit here.
I think the locating tabs are a little too long .
when I do the Achilles I think I’ll assemble the outside shell of the Turret first before installing any of the inside parts.

The Ammo is painted and the ready rounds installed.
First a coat of Gloss black.
Then the brass.
On installing the ready rounds I used thin strips of lead foil for the hold down straps.
After painting the strips Khaki the first round is installed.
I hooked the strap under the hook and installed the second round.
Finishing up with the bottom round.
Tucking the end of the strap through the bottom eye.
This is as close as I can get with the camera.
Tomorrow on to other stuff.

I have the Gun mounted in the turret , I had a spacing problem as there was a gap on both sides at the front.
I don’t know , Maby I screwed up there , but it all fit on the bottom.

I expect with the turret being made out of several parts its very easy to slightly misalign something and not notice till it bites you later. Very good recovery though Donald. I’ll watch for this on the Achilles as most the components are very similar if not the same.

I’m still working on it.
The Ise Cleats and Turret Counter Weights are installed.
I have the Value Gear painted , I’m not Shure how much of it I’ll be using.
The Mg. didn’t come out quite as good as I was hoping it would.
Finished for now.

Kist a bit more dry brushing should do the trick. But not too much. That woukd make it look “toyish”( if thats a word.

I’m curious. When working in 1/16 scale do you feel the need to do even more detail, even more paint ops and weathering? Because just one of those ‘bits of gear’ would be larger than a 1/72 tank I’m thinking. Or is it more a case of ‘assembly line’ as you can’t spend a week on one piece of kit? (Well, you could, of course!)
Also that’s a big open turret. Any thoughts on figures? Just wondering if the thought process is different when building a big guy.
Anyway, great fun to watch - thanks for posting!

No I’m going to be 77 Years in a couple of months , and the 1/16th. scale is easier on my Arthritic Hands . If you have viewed any of my previous builds , you will notice that I usually don’t add on extra baggage. In this scale I think it’s easier to add a little extra detail.
As for Figures , I don’t do them . I have about 7 from the Takom / Andy kits that I have built.
I don’t know what to do with them.
What I really wish for instead of the figures is for someone to do a set of 1/16th Sherman Pioneer Tools with the straps and buckles included.

Figures can be a pain to get ‘right’, and too much baggage can obscure the vehicle! I’ve often thought about doing ‘museum builds’, with data plaques, clean, freshly painted vehicles and any figures being blank-faced dummies!
Anyway, looking forward to seeing the Wolverine…
I think it opens pages and pages up superdetailing and/or weathering opportunities. It can really allow you to express yourself. I love it. There’s so much room and little to no squinting of your eyes(Yeah!). Give me a buz. And I’d be happy to show some of my work. Regardless, it’s YOUR tank/ vehicle/plane or whatever; so if at least, have fun!
