Bulgarian WWII Campaign

So ICM Mitko might need a booster seat but Tamiya Fritz seems to be at home in the cab and not riding in back. :man_shrugging:

Fritz also needs an exercise program and less Schnitzel

Mitko is not the best driver but he is who the village could send.

‘AHN’ the winner is…

Tamiya Fritz.

ICM Mitko seems to have a club foot…

How much will you see? You could probably get away with either. There is always this option:

I would have probably used Fritz but Mitko is who got the uniform change. I will have to see if Fritz can find a recruiter till then the block option might be idea.

Depending on what you will see, another option is cut Mitko’s legs off at the knees, insert an armature wire and bend the wire until the feet line up where you want them, then fill the section between the leg parts with two part putty, extending the knees forward a bit. I have done that several times (plus a bit of amputation on occasion) when all you see looking down is a vague leg like shape.

Thanks, that is another great option. It’s probably more then I want to do but so was uniform modifications so in for a penny, maybe in for a pound.

Mitko says he is not your friend anymore after you sent him to the butcher.

He doesn’t want to hear how you increased his dating life by making him taller either.

Hopefully tomorrow the mess with putty happens.

Well done Ryan!
A tip of the hat for the courage with the cutting part(I hope Mitko received an overdose of rakia pre-surgery).Putty mess will go well, I’m sure. You can even dare to add some crevices and folds with a toothpick.
And I like the given name of the driver- Mitko is a typical, although not very common, Bulgarian male name. It is frequently used as short for Dimitar- a given name that is more common.
My father’s name is Mitko

BTW, I have a folder, named Peter tips! @petbat

Angel, I am once again thinking of just doing this DML Panther G I have already like we have talked about previously. Were these all trophy tanks given by the Russians ? or were any just captured/abandoned ? And the colour, were they already over sprayed in the green or did any come in a cam scheme ? I know there are not many pictures out there of the Bulgarian ones and I think you have posted most if not all of them here. Also the red star, were these over painted once in Bulgarian service ?

“Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual”
An old German saying, meaning something like- “To choose means to suffer”

All Panthers were given to Bulgaria from the Trophy Service of the Soviet Third Ukrainian Front.

The Panthers underwent overhaul, were sprayed in 4BO paint and had the Red Star painted by the Russian maintenance staff.

And it is not, that Panthers, destined for Bulgaria, received some special treatment- the Soviet Army also used some of these trophies.

I’ve seen no picture of Panther in Bulgarian service with Red Star overpainted.

Thanks. Seems to be Peter’s solution for many things (truck hood). The cutting and drilling part was easy, guesstimating the length and positioning while the super glue is drying was pain. At one point the cab was upside down trying to make gravity my friend. I think once done it will be good enough in cab as most people won’t see.

He is on a rakia drip post surgery. Dr’s order he not have any before hand as it thins the blood and that would be messy. The Dr however had some before hand. :sunglasses:

I was trying to pick a appropriate name that didn’t match anyone on here (in case I mess him up) and that was easy to remember/spell, that was my sweet spot. I should have asked beforehand, now the pressure is really on. “Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual” :+1:

No pressure, Ryan!

There’s no “eierlegende Wollmilchsau”(egg-laying woolly milk sow), you can’t have it all

Enjoy your build and keep us posted!

Bit more detailing on the Horch 3.8 V8 engine, that drove the 5th Serie Sd.Kfz.222 I’m building:

HT leads were added and the prominent oil-bath air filters were built and mounted.

I thought of removing the engine cover- it was never present on the real thing, but as I’ll build the upper engine hatch closed, the cover won’t be visible at all, so I’ll leave it and live with it.

Will probably need to add some wires here and there, but I’ll leave the engine for now and will switch to frame construction.

Lovely work Angel. So very nicely detailed…
Are those securing hasps on the oil bath filters from the Panther barrel cleaning rod container covers. ?

Thanks John!

The hasps come from a Voyager PE set, but are basically identical with those, used on Panther barrel cleaning rod container covers.

I’ve just skipped their bases, as Voyager made the holes where the hasp body has to be fixed way too narrow…

Rookie tip, if you find touching pinned extremities loose, reglue and wait. Dang Apoxie sculpt is hard enough to work with without reattaching limbs.

I did the best I could in the moment. Hopefully sanding and what not can get me the rest of the way.

Super Mitko! Congratulations Ryan! I see that you have noticed a characteristic feature of the Bulgarian sidecaps. Bravo!
