Close, but the yellow decals in the Tamiya accessory sets match this photo exactly.
As for the orange stickers, I like to use up what I have. I’ve been aware of that set but it’s currently not needed.

I’m going to have to look at my Meng kit now…
Thanks for that, good footage. I remember how it’s done, using a Craftsman 3/4" ratchet handle to get the rounds in the mag. That would be a lot of tight detail to have viewed through the hatches.
If I not watched the video I probably would have just had a few casings on the radiator grill. Now I’ll know to put some down where the armor plate meets the hull.
I have the metallic green paint but have not had time to do any modelling recently.
One way to display the linked cartridges may be to have them stretched out as if they’re being inspected/ready to be loaded. I wouldn’t mind them being elevated but I don’t trust the tiny attachment points to hold. And for that reason, I’m going to put them in hot boxes.
I have all of the measurements and a little time.
Anything would have to be easier than replicating this:
Wow. Hard enough to one correctly. Extremely hard to make three look all the same. But they are dimensionally accurate in height, width, and length to within .01 inches. I’ve ordered Jaques’ footman loops via eBay. If they are indeed dimensionally correct, they should make these boxes pop. There are two at each end for lifteing straps to attach to.
I know. A dude with better CAD skills could’ve ginned one up in five minutes and have them on the printer by now. But it was fun (?) and I did it myself.
You can’t really display those cool cartridges and clips in a closed box. So -
It just needs an end piece and the flipped back portion of the lid. Then it’ll be ready for ammo to . Time to paint the rounds with that metallic paint.
Damn! Superb craftsmanship on those boxes. To get three perfect like that is just short of a miracle. I’d have to make ten to get three exactly the same. They look amazing. Nice idea for the live rounds, and a great way to display them.
You’re right, though, a lot more satisfaction than spitting them out of a printer. Excellent find on that craft paint - it looks like the perfect color. Hope you don’t mind if I steal that from you. I’ll have to make a trip down to Michael’s and come out with that paint and $25 of other random stuff. That anodized green is also the perfect color for the end caps on the TOW rounds.
So am I correct that these stow on the floor of the rear compartment ?
That paint doesn’t take well to unprimed brass. I’ll try it again. Another problem is that the cartridges are so small that you really don’t see the metallic effect. Plain old Testors Forest Green may suffice. And there’s the problem of gluing the link to the painted rounds. I’m going to experiment more later today, and also suggest they print the links in black.
The battery is still dead on my micrometer. (I guess it’s not coming back to life.) But measuring as accurately as I can with a steel ruler the complete rounds look about .5 mm too short, That’s half an inch in scale. It makes a difference. Although I have to admit my metal box is a tad off - its interior dimension is the same as the proper exterior dimension of the plastic boxes. So the metal one is too wide by two times the thickness of the brass shim. I may have to redo it as it makes the leftover space inside even larger.
One last thing - the set gives you both AP and HE rounds. I want to only display the AP as the HE would be extremely difficult to paint. I need three rows in my box so I may hide the HE rounds underneath and paint them as AP. The differences on the rounds are so hard to see without an Opti-Visor. Most people will probably not even see the difference.
Yes, underneath the rubber mat.
The boxes will fit underneath the six panel ODS style floor as well.
Sweet .
I’m considering casting these and the corrected 25mm ammo cans as well. But I know as soon as I make molds someone will 3D print them. As mentioned above, the 25mm cans that are available are not proportioned well. They should be 3/4 inch higher than their length, making these incorrect:
Also from above in the thread - even though the stenciling is not correct in this Archer set. the image for the ammo can is correct. What were they making these for? Was there a time when someone was offering the correct cans?
And while on the subject of corrected cans, you can’t imagine how difficult it was to make one with a latch that is not fully closed.
Maybe this thread will inspire someone to bring us some new items. I’ve got my feelers out.
Very nice, is that the kit latch cut from the box or scratch built ?
It’s from the kit, but not cut - sanded down from an extra end panel. When I’m feeling salty I open the slots first.
Got home from today’s ride to find my footman loops had arrived. Would my initial excitement turn to disappointment once I tried to use the product, as so often often happen in our hobby?
Let’s find out. As I said earlier, I know my boxes are correct to within better than .01 inches. So if the loops are good, everything should look good, right?
I’m happy. Buy with confidence from jdduquet on eBay.
Now I just need to make some stainless steel latches.
