Need some spent ammo for your Bradleys? DEF Model has a thing for you.
Oh now that’s cool. Definitely a detail we’ve needed for a while, if you remember to drill the ejection port!
Mine arrived about two weeks ago. I need to figure out how to paint them in a metallic OD.
A few spent cases will go on the deck - I did not forget to drill it out on the Magic Factory kits.
I’m scratching hot boxes for the rounds. On ODS Bradleys they go under these panels:
On later A3 and A4 variants they go underneath the rubber panels.
Boy does the Bradley get a lot of love
Could you tell me where you got them because I can’t find them for sale anywhere and I’m looking for a couple sets
Ebay, but sold under Orange Hobby. Exactly the same product.
I am sure Sprue Brothers will have them “soon” in the US as they sell the other Def Model 3D rounds.
Rob, I know you’re SOF, but you do know all things Bradley. You ever crew one?
No, but my daughter TC’ed one when she was 12. I posted a video once. We were visiting one of three refit facilities I frequent. I make sure to ask a lot of questions.
But my “knowledge” of Bradleys does come in part from being SOF. Bravos need to know the capabilities of other vehicles and how to defeat them. And my experience in SOCKOR led to me learning a lot more about our own capabilities, both SOF and conventional, against the NorKs.
I think he’s a Bradley nerd…
Hahah
And why shouldn’t it? Like my other favorite, the Centurion, there are so many different waysb to build it, and they’re different enough to keep them interestng.
Several years ago I’d build them almost assembly line style. But each one different, and accurized to my own tastes:
Or I would do five OG or A1 builds at a time, still with each one different - partial engines, removed radiator cover, removed access panel that wasn’t even on the kit…
And there are so many left to do, or redo as the case may be. Some of my favorite builds were for cash.
The Brad deserves a lot of love. It’s proven itself to be a great vehicle. It’s reliable, survivable, and fightable. It grows to be your home on tracks. It surrounds you and protects you. And now it’s proving so adaptable. All the things the M113 did, the Bradley can do, plus that 25mm Bushmaster. It kicks some ass. So, yeah, we deserve some new, state of the art kits, with nice interiors, and all the 3D bells and whistles they want to throw at us.
Meng came close. I sure sent them enough photos. But neither of their interiors are 100% accurate. The housing for the ramp mechanism lacks detail as well.
The main thing that could benefit every kit is the spaced armor on the skirts and in front of the stowage bins, and how it’s mounted. As I’ve pointed out in another thread, the Magic Factory offerings have been a bit of a step backward as far as detail.
The good news is that at least one company is talking about revamping some things on their Bradleys and some other kits as well. Recently H-H and I have been trying to get some proper 25mm ammo cans made. I’ve been scratching them for years, but it would be nice to have someone offer them with the kits. They’d go great with this new ammo.
Regarding ammo cans, are the plastic ones that open on both top & bottom still in use ?
Yes, but I call the plastic ones boxes or containers. What we really need are the metal cans which are also still in use. The plastic ones are offered by a company called Eureka and they’re very nice but don’t come with any decals. I’ve had to use the hazard placards From MLS kits. Bogart the yellow writing from other sources as well.
I just ordered two sets of the ammo and links. The spents will look great scattered on the deck. I’m not sure how I’ll use the full rounds yet.
Does Eureka XXL work for these?

Mario
Yes, those are the ones I have. I use the MLRS decals, of which I have no shortage of either.
Djiti offers those plastic ammo boxes as well. While they make fine products, the ammo boxes appear to be out of proportion, i.e. too rectangular, as do their metal cans:
These are some of my “scratchbuilt” 25mm cans:
