Event Details: I wanted to include campaigns from historical mechanized regiments and units from all over the world. American, British, German, Soviet/Russian, etc… I figured I start with the British; and no better choice than the British Royal Armored Corps, which later became the Royal Tank Regiment; see the history of the units that comprised the RTR, and their vehicles. (Remember to click “Going” if you want to join the build!)

Completion Award: [add info about possible award badge here - see help threads for more info]

A Note about Awards: The following text is a reminder that in order for people participating and finishing their projects to receive a badge on their forum profile, they will need to provide their account username to the group build leader by the completion date of the build. The leader will then provide this list to the site admin who will bulk award the badges to those users who have finished the group build. If you don’t provide your username or finish the project on the timetable the leader has setup you will not be able to receive an award.

I’m in, but no going button or start/finish dates?

It’s a great campaign idea. I’m going to say maybe, depends on the time frame and start dates. A bit full at the moment.
I’m assuming it’s any tank in British or Commonwealth service?

Definitely interested. Really like this campaign idea. I spent some time reading about the Royal Tank Regiment and how it is organized. Apparently some armored units are/were in the Royal Tank Regiment while others are/were not. I would need help identifying a vehicle that qualifies.

Sadly I cannot even contemplate being the group leader for this one guys … Being ex Blues and Royals RHG/D (HCR) I just cant align myself to the RTR … and apart from that, our history goes back to 1650, a little bit before 1917  … it would be like asking an Arsenal fan to wear a Man U shirt lol …
However, I would suggest that the rules be tweaked a bit to specify maybe just Tracked AFV’s and Wheeled AFV’ s? if you leave it open, between 1917 and now they have used a multitude of vehicles as any Armoured Regt does. Even if you just leave it to tracked or wheeled AFV’s theres loads of them, from Mk1’s, Shermans, Buffalos, Hobarts Funnies, Cents, Chieftains, Cr1 & 2, Fuchs etc etc

Sorry Chaps, but I’m busy enough on the modelling front these days; in addition to the Get Hitched and Shermania campaigns, I’m obliged (self-induced admittedly) to complete a Belgian Minerva in time for the IPMS Belgium nationals – that, in addition to a few distractions such as revisiting 1/72 Aircraft.

Perhaps someone else can take up the cudgels?

I wouldn’t mind being organizer of this one; But I’d appreciate a wee-bit help from anyone that has served in the RTR. I just posted your names since I know you guys have a lot fo experience with British modeling.

I have a handful of kits that could be added, like a British Challenger 1, an A34 Comet Cruiser tank, a Sherman Firefly, I might even add a British Mk1 Fe/Male tank into the mix if needed.

This would be my first Campaign submission, so any help setting this up will be greatly appreciated.

Well? For starters; How do i add the GOING/INTERESTED/NOT GOING tag?

I figured that 1 year prior to the 110th Anniversary of the RTR would be a good time. Also, I imagine the badge would be the RTR’s iconic insignia with a 110 right below the scroll with the words “FEAR NAUGHT”. How detailed would it look in small scale is elusive, but i think it can be doable, or at the very least, a more simplified insignia would suffice.

Go back into the first post where you describe the event, and edit that post.
On the icons on the top, hit the + button and that gives you various choices, add date / time etc and also “add poll” click that, then click on multiple choice and then you can add the options (Interested/Not interested/going and then add the amount of choices people can make, ( I usually do 1 and 1 )and then make sure the “show who voted” tick is highlighted then just click Insert Poll.

Ref the award, it needs to be award shaped (medal) … you could ask Doug @Damraska as he did a cracking medal for the D Day campaign I ran :+1:

I was going to be specific to the British RTR, including the King’s Royal Hussars and Royal Wessex Yeomanry, along with the affiliated units within the British Army Reserves:

@Damraska could help out with the award medal. After a littlew thinking. I think a medal featuring the British Mk1 tank from the regimental crest and a ribbon consisting of the regimental colours and a “110” would be a good idea.

I’m up for this! But a start date a year away gives lots of opportunity to forget, so reminders will be needed. I took your image and turned it into a PNG file at the required 128x128px so you can see how well it fares:

I am happy to help with a campaign medal, if so desired. Tom beat me by about 30 seconds, posting a 128x128 version of the Royal Tank Regiment badge.

I’d be happy if you do it. Go for it.

Reynier, you are getting a bit mixed up here buddy. The RTR are the RTR, thats it. They were formed just before WW2 when they took that name, prior to that, they were known as the Tank Corps.

The KRH, RWxY and the RTR did form part of the 12 Armd Bde Combat Team in 3 UK Div on Cr2. They are all individual units with their own histories and should not be mixed up together in anyway and QRH are the other Cr2 Armoured Regt in another combat team, but those could change this year.
So to keep it easy, just focus solely on RTR.
