I have this paint for airbrush
Before I fire up the airbrush- how do you clean it afterwards? Does anyone have experience with this paint?

This is an alcohol-based metallic paint that skillfully replicates the reflective properties of a chrome-plated surface, much like a mirror. While it is primarily intended for use with a brush, it is also compatible with airbrush applications. It demonstrates remarkable versatility as it can be applied to surfaces of any color, and it is always recommended to clean it using alcohol.
I would say test on something with a brush then see if comes off using alcohol.
Saw a review, the paint finish is GORGEOUS! But people said it turns to âbrushed aluminumâ quickly and is fragile. No one had a definitive coating suggestion.
Couldnât find anything about cleaning, but I agree, if itâs alcohol based, alcohol would probably work best. Acetone is nuclear, and if it doesnât kill you, might eat any AB seals.
I will give it a try with isopropanol, then. I have an old airbrush, and will use that, just in case. Thank you all!
Lacquer thinner works well also. That is my go to.
Many metallic finishes are delicate to touch or air. Sealing them with a clear matt or gloss, might be best.
I am planning to use Vallejoâs metallic varnish for this. As for glossy⌠I used Green Stuff Worldâs glossy black primer, but it is not as glossy as I hoped. How should I go about glossification? Another coat of gloss varnish?
Why does it need to be glossier? Are you after an automotive gloss finish?
I would test spray on something else, then clear it with gloss and then try wet sanding and polishing it AFTER the clear is cured. Iâm really curious how this paint works for youâŚIâve been considering it for a Cylon figure in my stash.
Let us know what you end up doing, and post some pics!

I see you are planning to airbrush this paint. I infer that you may be planning to cover a large area. At the end of the last paragraph of Green Stuff Worldâs info blurb, they say to restrict its usage to relatively small areas.
We had a show many years ago in a marquee tent where one guy had his gold-finished plane sprayed lovingly with Alclad paint, and the humidity overnight fogged the whole thing! It looked like brushed copper the next morning. I assume it wasnâ sealed with a suitable gloss coatâŚ
Andras, let us know your results when they are in? Iâd really like to see how well this works. I have their chameleon paint which I plan to use on a model of dragon. Iâve been eyeing these Chrome paints, too.
Thank you all for the response. I will try the paint -alternatively Green Stuff World offers a spray can version as well. Perhaps I will try that instead- or both. I may even write up a short review once I have some experience.
