Coming soon Ferret MK2 from Airfix

Was it the same, for a given value of “same”, chassis in Mk 1 and Mk 2?

Thinking about the validity of the size comparison …

Not sure; I suspect so - I think the development plan was always to give it a turret (the same as on the Saracen APC). The same turret was even trialled on the FV 432 APC I believe. Incidentally, the turret planned (and developed) for the Vixen, ended up being used on FV 432 (Platoon Commander’s vehicle) and the Saxon APC.

Yes the same, mk2 had the plate bolted to the mk1, that fitted the turret on top, at produced phase, your not able to swap tops, due to the way they were fixed together

Yeah the Peak turret, I remember the 432’s in Batus having them and the Saxons in Bosnia. Something else that AA do a conversion for.

Wow! What great footage; I was aware that there was one there, but seeing it move is a real treat. For all its problems I would have loved to have seen it in service.

I almost feel like digging it out the stash and starting right now!

Thanks Peter.

Frank, I’d love to, but sadly I’m a dining table-top modeller, and this is my workspace at the moment - my Zero Alpha having insisted, not least for the Season as it were:

Soooo, sadly, not any time soon. Sigh.

I’m so lucky I have an unfinished (and unheated unfortunately) basement for my work bench. I do move upstairs to the dining room table to paint figures only during the winter when it’s just too cold downstairs.

The other pic is my stash on top of my old HO train layout table from about 20 years ago.

That really is a compact armored car. Pretty neat!

Sorry - missed this; the only game in (1:35 town) is the one by Accurate Armour:

AA products » 1:35th Complete Kits » K125 (accurate-armour.com)

It goes for 60 sterling - which I don’t think is too punishing for a resin/etched brass kit these days.

Factor in a Valkyrie crew or two - job done!

Yup, not saying they weren’t out there, just that I never saw them. Our Squadron Sergeant Majors had Mk1’s in Armoured Regiments.

Can’t say I saw them anywhere else🤔 we had four per SQN,the ferret in your photo you put up doesn’t have the flotation screen fitted,we had to take them off for our NI tours as they were deemed a flame trap and then put them back on when we got back to Tidworth!

They took them out of service in Bosnia after one toppled and rolled, crushing the vehicle commander.

They had a reputation for being top heavy as I recall.
