Commander Models out of business

Another excellent job- I don’t recall seeing this one though, but love it.

Thanks Richard; if you’re referring to the M75 I’ll try and get a few more pics up. I messed up one of the front guards but it still - just about - looks OK. I made a Belgian version - though I was tempted to do a US one - as I remember seeing them on exercise, through the mist in some cold Autumnal weather, and massive they looked too emerging from the gloom.

The surface finish on your Belgian M75 looks (correctly to my eye) a drab brownish shade, Brian. What paint did you use?

Good old Gelboliv - or rather my interpretation of it Tamiya XF-51 Khaki Drab.

If you’re considering doing yours in Belgian guise, I have loads of decals should you require any.

Thanks I appreciate the offer, Brian. When I eventually get around to getting it to paint stage, I’ll take you up on that. Could be some time though ……

Damn! That really sucks! I was planning to purchase their U.S XM70, and was putting it off till after Christmas.

Well now that, thats off the table, does anyone know if someone finally came up with a conversation kit for the Dragon/Black Label MBT70?

I think it’s been at least a year since this was asked…..maybe it’s available??

Thanks Edro

Sorry to learn of the Commanders fate. I was on their site last week, seeing if the GOER Fuel Truck was still listed, but only WW1 items were there. At least the site was still up then.

I built the Hobby Link M59 early in 2024, and it was an enjoyable build, after dealing with the print lines and warped hull side. Worked through it though, and I like the end result. Give it a go!

I wish I didn’t see this…..don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic model, and I would love to get one of my own…..but now I’m also thinking about a second one so that I could convert it to a USMC LVTP6!

11 posts were split to a new topic: Modelling the MBT-70

I was asked to do it, see posts in the MBT-70 thread

@Uncle-Heavy thanks for splitting out the mbt70 thread!

Was Commander the company that was bringing out a USRA steam locomotive in 1/35 ?

You got that right! Hopefully Jon can sell or pass on his molds to some other firm. That locomotive was a beauty
