Speaking of burnt wood , it’s most likely I’ll have have to address that feature also in my builds , just not there in the destruction phase yet .
Piece of basswood paint/washed light earth brown acrylic , AK marker tire black [ excellent flat black ] , pastel chalk light grey followed by white . You can use any light or heavy application you want and pastel chalks can easily be washed off to try again .

…anyhoo you got that nailed. My next experiment is taking that effect further, towards the corrugated charcoal appearance of more severely burnt planking, I was just trying some corrugating on balsa strips with the flat side of a blade & it looks OK-ish. Will apply paint/pastel and post results anon.

Thanks John, yep Breaking Up is hard to do - still wrestling with the corrugated charcoal effect mentioned above so I’ve nothing to show yet. But with the speed of a hunted snail I can show;

Some basic destruction…
There’ll be way more tangled debris and wall-splintering, this is just first steps. Interior painting needs to happen fairly soon, followed by some charring. Meanwhile I needed to get an approximate read on the roof so ripped off a basic chunk pending mo’ splintering…

Just a reminder that wood is no protection against whatever calibre it was you mentioned - 45mm? I can’t remember and am too fatigued to trawl back, but some very good effects there Tim, very good.
Bloody hell those termites are savage!!
I understand a similar effect can be achieved by leaving a model accessible to a bored cat…

Tim , looks good/bad , you know what I mean . Getting everything just right/wrong in building a destroyed vehicle is quite a challenge tho you look like you’re managing … now originally did you say a woman was driving or Ted Kennedy or it was struck by a 45mm shell , just asking for a friend ?
Hi Tim, this is looking good. I can imagine this took a long time to pull together. There is a lot of discreet construction required to make up the complete destruction!

To depict the rear end being blown off is quite the challenge, and I can’t wait to see how your fender “mangling” turns out

Brian – OK I’ll leave my miniaturised flame-thrower behind when I visit you, your usual bomb-disposal get-up should suffice in the pub. And yes a 45mm HE shell, which I’m assuming exploded on impact with the rear wooden wall.
Sam – odd you mention termites, I only learned a couple of weeks ago from a (retired) professional building inspector that when suspected, he used an amplifier/headphones – you can hear them chewing away.
Tom/Jerry - …Tom & Jerry?! No pets here, all cats should be exterminated anyway. I love (most) dogs as long as I don’t have to take care of them.
Glenn – yeah Chappaquiddick was an option but couldn’t find any female corpse figures in 1:35. Too soon…?
Nick – “discreet” wasn’t an adjective that I’d considered (or been noted for!) but I know what you mean.
Dave – yeah the chassis frame’s niggling me in terms of damage. My theory is the blast went predominantly horizontal/vertical, so by the time I’ve scattered/tangled/burnt debris over that exposed rear end I won’t need to bend it much, if at all. Let’s see what it looks like.
