No filter on the intake. I did notice that it doesn’t get loud until the pressure builds up. I have it set at 20psi and it starts getting noisy at about 15-17psi.

If it were 10 - 20 years old, I’d say the motor is just getting tired. But 3 - 4 years isn’t old at all. Sorry DV but I don’t have an answer for you.
