Convoy! pt3

Is it absolutely necessary for it to be larger than the Jeep? And what if it’s just a Jeep and something else in tow?

I was aiming at trucks and “big” things, so unless it’s a Jeep on steroids I’m afraid it’s out - sorry.

Am I right in thinking those early SWB Land Rovers which have been appearing lately would be out, but later LWBs would be acceptable?

You’re right about the SWB ones, as they are essentially variants on the Jeep. But the LWB ones should be OK, as would one of those odd six-wheel Jeeps that were intended to fill a gap between the Jeep and the Dodge Weapons Carrier. Extra points if your LWB Landy is built as a pick-up truck!

I have a few trucks waiting to jump on my workbench soon so I’m in for sure.

Just wanted to show the motor with the cab on. Most likely I’m going to glue the hood down.

That engine is crying out for wiring!

It’s going to be hidden. Were I to actually have it displayed, I would’ve replaced the kit motor with a resin one.

The cab is just about finished. I need to add the grill, bumper, roof running lights and the mirrors.

I decided that the windshield needed some tint for Colorado summers.

Nice red color shade.

I like those vintage company logos.

Not too much more done to the “Wedge.” Bumper and grill have been added.

I’ll use a very thin black wash on the grill to bring out the details.

I still need to mask the “Wedge’s” ramps for painting.

The initial yellow stripe decals broke apart coming out of the water. I’m going to try and use some Testor’s decal spray to hopefully strengthen the long yellow stripes that go along the top of the “Wedge.” Without the stripes it’s pretty plain even with some of the logo decals.

Getting there. The hood is not yet secured.

More work on the “Wedge.” Masked off the body to paint the aluminum ramps and masked the smaller ramps for the candy red. The center had a thin piece of styrene cut and then scored many lines the length - looks pretty close to the black rubber matting that was prevalent in the military S-shops.

Side markers to be painted, brake lights to be added along with the license plate holder.

Cab still needs the mirrors. I now wish I left of the roof marker lights. Don’t much care for 'em, but way too late now.

All done. Not too happy with the mirrors or roof marker lights. Regardless, this will be nice once I build a car to put on it. The only car model I have right now is a Gunze Ferrari GTO 250.

Mike,
Wow! The aluminum ramps and black rubber matting made a huge difference! … I actually like the roof marker lights. Very nice! :articulated_lorry:

Lovin’ your truck Mike, it looks fantastic and the gold rims are just exceptional! It’s nice to see something that’s not olive drab or desert sand for a change and seems like it was a quick build.

ScalHobbyist has this one as a new listing . . .
