Convoy! pt3

Terry,

I’ve recently seen that. Oh boy! I like that one better than the Chevy. Ramp is great!

Simply sensational Mike. Fabulous finish. It would have to be something special on the back, to take away from how good this looks.

I know you said bigger than a jeep… but would this work, I mean it kind of hauls people?
totally fine if its a no, but it never hurts to ask. I can always run to my LHS

Those Italeri Jeeps are great fun to build, but it’s still a Jeep - take it as a great excuse to buy another kit at the shop!

Thats good to know they’re fun lol, kinda picked it up just to get something. I need to quit buying em until i finish the ones in the stash, but I’ll definitely take this as a sign to buy another
Stupid question but are armored cars allowed?

Not armored cars if they were special-built as such so no Greyhounds or Sd.Kfz 234/2 Pumas, but armored transports like a Sd.Kfz 7/1 with an armored cab are good to go or an Opel truck with a 20mm flak gun in the bed.

It just needs to have been meant as a transport of some kind originally but may be a modification for other purposes like mounting an AA or AT gun in the bed. Or at least that’s my interpretation.

Ahh, I gotcha so only transport trucks, civilian, and a few exceptions, Thank you!

Right. My previous entry was of the Diamond Reo diesel tractor done up as a generic U.S. transport company vehicle and this time I am doing a random 3-axle truck used by the Wehrmacht. Or I could do a German fire truck of 1930’s vintage. Hmm. Maybe.

And you could do something from media, so a truck from the Mad Max universe or some other post-apocalyptic setting is fine. All it needs to have been is originally meant as a hauler. If it stayed a hauler is up to you.

Thanks for all the help its very informative, I think you should do the German firetruck it looks pretty cool..(or do them both lol) but obviously do whatever you want! Im gonna do the Airfix Austin K2/Y ambulance, never built an airfix.. i think, so im excited to see how it turns out!
Also how do i tell the host what model i chose or will he just see this message.

cheers

Post a photo of the kit showing it is unstarted or partially started along with the date so they know you didn’t build it two years ago.

If you take the pic in front of your computer you can have this on the screen:

A great suggestion for someone just getting into this as you can’t go wrong. Also any scale or period; I’ve been working up a WW1-era apocalypse… (The scenario posits the Russians, being unable to match the Germans in chemical warfare, developed biological weapons enhanced with extra-terrestrial material recovered from Tunguska; these agents interacted with the Spanish Flu to produce mutagens, while developing a flu-like tendency to rapidly mutate themselves…). “Mad Max” type monstrosities built on pre-1919 vehicles! For those favouring a recent, current or near-future scenario, this reference may be of use:

That’s OK - he’s read it! Sounds like a fun build. (I wish they’d offered figs of John Mills and Sylvia Simms to go with it, from Ice Cold in Alex…)
