Nice save on that, and I like your idea of how to close the other end. The Vomag truck is a favourite of mine, and the only one in plastic of that size and weight class (there is a Faun truck but in resinš¢).
Thankās Gil! Happy you like the VOMAG so far!
Now if I could just learn to avoid making boneheaded mistakes like that in the first place, maybe I could get something done. ![]()

Iāve got a couple of models Iād like to submit - nothing fancy - but to whom and where do I submit the photos? This is my first campaign/group build Iāve joined, so Iām a bit clueless!
Go to the first post in the thread, click the going button, then click back to the main last post in the thread and describe what youāre going to be doing etc, and upload images direct in to the post ā¦
Hi Tim, welcome to the campaign! You can just post your photos in posts right here - if you drag & drop the pics into a new post they will appear. Generally speaking you need to post some pics of the whole build process so we know you built the model during this campaign, rather than just posting pics of a finished model from your collection - the whole idea of these campaigns is to get folks to build new stuff. Iāll keep a list of everyone that finishes a build and posts their pics here - then at the end of the campaign next March they will get a badge.
@ petconvincer. After staring a hole into the image, I must admit, youāre probably correct in your assessment⦠kindaā loosely rolled and thrown over the top?
Hereās what I came up with.

Also, I think the tailgate chains look out of scale, so I may 86 them. ![]()
What say all ye truckers?

Speaking of which⦠how about:
(Full size and the smaller on screen views)

I like the 4th, if I do say so myselfā¦
I knew youād come up with the goods Pete! What say the gang?
I like the 4th also. It really looks like a 1970s Convoy.
Paul
I also like the 4th one. Better colors and covers both civilian and military vehicles better with neutral colors.
Looks like weāre settling in on No.4! Iāll see what the balance is at close of play tomorrow.
I like No. 4. Only thing is the trucks seem stubby with the two-axle wheelbases.
āmike
Picky, picky. ![]()
It is all perspective⦠two tyres at an angle seem one wheel. I widened the wheel and added a gap for youā¦

That improves the look but if I was super picky, a third row/axle would make her shine. ![]()
Everyoneās a criticā¦

@ petcasso.
⢠Perspective and color are perfect. Matches this thumb nicely. ![]()
⢠Much better with the dually tire (tyre). ![]()
⢠Whatās the shmutz on the side?
⢠Open-up the dotted lines so they donāt blur when resized, or just make them solid.
⢠The lead truckās tire (tyre) looks odd. Maybe move it to the right a tad. ![]()
⢠Why are they driving on the wrong side of the road? ![]()

I too like #4. Iām not sure what yāall are going on about though LOL. Images are waaaay too small for me to nitpick ![]()
Next choice would be #1. But #4 is my first choiseeā¦

Want to thank yāall for your suggestions on removing the pin marks. I have used or tried to use all the ideas posted. ![]()

Couldnāt find my mission models chisel (where did it go
) but I did find my Dspiae drill that I hadnāt used before. While it spins slower then my variable speed dremel, I think it spins a little to fast for plastic. While the bit did work, I did find Peterās bit suggestion when search for the chisel again and after using the drill. I used the UMM scraper to clean up the āmeltedā plastic. This followed by a sanding stick to smooth it all out. While not the best work, based on Johnās research, should be good enough and satisfy my concerns.
Might glue the frame up this weekend and I should have the wheel sorted out next week thanks to @Jimboās help.
Finally have had about an hour at my bench tonight, my wifeās goddaughter is visiting, so Iāve escaped to my lair. Fighting exhaustion and a most confusing array of WC-54 body panels, interior and exterior. I get why it was designed this way, but, well, dang. Finally began to employ some tape to hold interior wall parts in place and then start to fiddle the exterior parts. Iām not in the mood for solvent fumes (really bad asthma day), so Iāll leave it at this for now (I do have an amazing fume extraction system that Iāll share in another sub-forum and thread; I really want to show yāall what I put together. In short, itās amazing. And most effective).
The mish-mashā¦.
At last, a semblance of ātogethernessā
And we are getting there!
The biggest issue is, trying to find exactly where the inner parts should align, and then the outer. And then the front of the cab. And so on. A real puzzle. But thatās modeling, the Italeri way! Ciao!
Jimbo
@ Jimbo. That does look like quite the puzzle. Thankās for sharing! ![]()
