I should have posted this last week after I start it at AMPS on the 8th, but I didn’t take photos until yesterday. This is the Testors-Italeri rebox of the mid 1970’s vintage Max kit. It has parts so you can make either the WC-51 or WC-52, the difference being a front bumper mounted winch on the WC-52. Anyways, I decided to go with the WC-51 version. Aside from clean up of mold ejector pin marks and mold seam lines, this is a pretty simple straightforward kit so far. I built the M6 GMC/WC-55 version long ago, but have zero memory of any issues with assembly on that one. So after roughly three hours work at the AMPS meeting, I have perhaps 2/3 of the main assembly completed.
Once I get my current F-16 project wrapped up, I’ll knuckle down on this one…
Not at all. That is the ROK K311, which is a license-built (modified) version of the Willys/Kaiser Jeep M715 truck. There is no linkage between the Dodge WC series and the K311, even though in the ROK it is sometimes called a Military Dodge.
Since I had my airbrush out yesterday for work on my P-35 project, I also did some work on this one. Mostly getting the areas that will be harder to paint at the end after final assembly such as the underside and drivers area…
I used AK Real Colors Dark Olive Drab 22. I’m planning on doing fading later with Real Colors faded Olive Drab, after a solid overall base of the OD 22.
Yes that’s true. You have to do a little soul searching on whether to buy them or not. They are readily available on the EBay store of a little shop in Estonia called Hobby4You for really great prices and low, fast shipping if you want them.
Yeah but I already have most of those in my stash now… I know the new stuff is better detailed, but the older ones do have ease of assembly going for them.
Yesterday was our So Cal AMPS Zoom meeting so I did more work on my WC 3/4 Ton, including finishing up getting the basic OD paint airbrushed on. Steve Munsel From Value Gear showed me how he makes his items at at AZ AMPS meeting late last year, so I followed his example using Milliput to make a tarp for the windshield and a rolled tarp onto the fender. It wasn’t too difficult to do.
Yes he does! Quite enlightening to watch how he creates his products.
Today I did some more work on this project… First up I did some touch ups on the OD that had become stained from the putty tarps, then I painted the epoxy tarps that I added to the windshield and fender
Next I added a couple of jerry can holders from my spares bins onto the sponsons… I didn’t like the jerry cans with molded on holders that came with the kit
I used some aircraft instrument decals for the dashboard instruments
And lastly I primed up some Value Gear stowage that I’m planning to use in the cargo bed, and gave it a test fit
