Does Blackpool have a connection with Airfix

Hi all.

the wife and i are having a few days break in the UK at the Costa del Blackpool and i came across a roundabout with model Spitfires on it with an Airfix logo on it, so what gives?

Apparently, it is an art installation to honor the Blackpool Spitfires from WWII which Airfix did a kit of and sponsored.

i talked the wife into visting this small museum and she actually enjoyed herself.
