Don't drink the Kool-Aid?

Yeah, that looks healthy! It’s been maybe 40 years since I last had the stuff, but it never came out as a solid.

We also had a powdered orange drink called Tang, allegedly taken into space with NASA. When out camping, it was fun to throw a pinch into the campfire and watch it create a big fireball, just like a stage magician! Lord only knows what it did to our insides…

Back in the 80’s the British Army used to have a powdered drink which came in large tins. It was nicknamed screech due to it’s effects on your pallet when drunk and was simply known as orange, red or yellow screech due to it’s corresponding colour when mixed with water and not for any particular taste. There is a new version in ration packs in smaller sachets optimistically called an isotonic drink!

you beat me to it about “Screech”, there was an interesting episode of Bluestone-42 which covered this stuff, I seem to remember one guy was snorting it like it was cocaine and starts hallucinating everyone has oranges for heads.

here’s a link to the show but not the actual episode

I’d say that’s just sugar, throw sugar into a fire and it’ll do the same thing. Sugar and flour dust are highly flammable.

For a while Tang came with a toy of the Lunar Rover shrink-wrapped to the side of the container.
