Might throw my hat in the ring for this one. Have Tamiyas 1/32 spit with Canadian decals sitting in the stash. Haven’t finished a plane in ages could be a good excuse to dip into the stash. Now to restrain myself from going hog wild buying AM parts for it.
I will be starting this week with the Airfix 1/48 TR.9
The only additions are Quinta seat belts and an ASK canopy mask set,
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched ‘LOW pass,’ one of my favorite clips — never gets old!
So, on March 5, 2026, in honor of the anniversary, I was pushed over the edge and ordered my first Spit…

Rest assured, the sole blame lies on you, Michael (michaelsatin). ![]()
Unfortunately, I won’t be committing to this campaign — already committed to the asylum.
… Just thought you’d get a jolly out of that one! ![]()

Happy to take full responsibility.
Meanwhile, c’mon. You can do it. Do it!

We’ve all got one foot in the loony bin 'round here.

Nice additions there! I am watching a lot of YouTube videos for inspiration. Best of luck
Thanks. I’ll need it. Never worked with resin before.
Well that was fun.
Except there are a few discrepancies between how the instructions represent a Mk.Vb and what the kit actually looks like.
For example the instructions don’t show the lumps on the wings (presumably from the cannons), so I’m not sure how the opened inboard cannon panel will actually look.
Looking forward to more!

Slowly moving from all research to digging in to the kit. Initial cockpit fit up confirms how wonderful the Kotare molding and plastic goes together. Part fits feel as tight as LEGO block connections.
Additions so far are drilling frame lightening holes per the instructions, and instrument wire run at port lower panel hole made with lead wire. Next much painting ahead on the instrument panel and Sutton seat belt installation.
Looking good!

Slowly painting and working the instrument panel.
I watched the first part of 2010 movie “First Light” about Spitfire pilot Geoffrey Wellum. Interesting cockpit details as his ground crew reviews starting sequence for his first flight. I pick up more issues in this film since starting this Kotare Spitfire kit. Gunsight changes mid flight, etc.
Would love to watch this, but all I can find is a DVD version on Amazon. … Unfortunately, no more DVD technology around here. ![]()

LOL! I was watching my DVD copy
In between other things, I’ve managed to make a start on my Kotare Mk.I early:
It’s going together just great. I do plan to rig the controls next.

Looking so good Michael! I see your extra detail on the Sutton Harness connection! Please share what kind of wire / rod you are using for your rigging?
Thanks, Stuart! Ever since I picked up a few Wingnut Wings kits and actually built some, I use EZ Line for all my rigging. Great stuff!
