Group Build Title: “Don’t Touch A Thing” The Spitfire At 90
Group Build Leader(s): @michaelsatin
Group Build Description: On March 5, 1936, a new fighter from Vickers-Supermarine took to the air from Eastleigh Aerodrome and a legend was born. When Chief Test Pilot Joseph “Mutt” Summers landed and climbed down, the first thing he said was “Don’t touch a thing.” While he likely meant that nothing was to be changed while he finished his report, the phrase has been interpreted ever since as him expressing his complete satisfaction with the aeroplane. And why not! I know it’s only been a couple of years since the last Spit campaign, but it’s hard to pass up the 90th anniversary. And what the heck, it’s the Spitfire!
Event Details: (Remember to click “Going” if you want to join the build!)
Completion Award: [add info about possible award badge here - see help threads for more info]
A Note about Awards: The following text is a reminder that in order for people participating and finishing their projects to receive a badge on their forum profile, they will need to provide their account username to the group build leader by the completion date of the build. The leader will then provide this list to the site admin who will bulk award the badges to those users who have finished the group build. If you don’t provide your username or finish the project on the timetable the leader has setup you will not be able to receive an award.

Great idea, Michael!
Have so many Spits in my stash that I need to build some. I’m in with Eduard’s Limited Dual Combo “Southern Star”, which make a Mk. Vb and a Mk. Vc.

Thank you for putting this campaign together Michael! I will use this as motivation to get into a Kotare 1/32 scale offering. This kit showed up today and will wait on the shelf until time. I envision building straight out of the box for an August 1940 model.

Count me in.
Not sure which I’ll do yet. Will have to look in the stash and see what inspires me. Might go with North Africa , Mediteranean or Far East.

Think I can make room for a PR Spit, possibly one of the new IBG kits.

I registered as interested. If I can make the time, I will join with a Border Model 1/35 Spitfire.

I’m in. I’ve had a Tamiya desert Spit in my stash for so long, it will soon qualify for a pension. I better get it built before the missus audits my stash again.

I’m going to be doing a Malta Spitfire from this sheet.

Not sure how I missed this one. I’m in.
Likely either a Kotare Spit or Tamiya’s older Mk.Vb with a resin engine kit.

With a name like that, you better not miss this GB

Great minds think alike, Stuart!
I’m planning on doing mine as Sailor Malan’s aircraft from early in the Battle.
Just a few more days.

Go get ‘em Michael! I know there are more than a couple of Kotare kits starting for this campaign. I am leaning towards Mk.I (Early) L1065 PR-E as it has the metal 3 bladed prop and the tail fin strips. Much fun ahead!

FYI: Kotare has temporarily dropped the prices on their Spitfires in honor of this anniversary.
$90 USD instead of $109 USD if ordered direct through their site.

Thank you for the news of the discount as these Kotare kits are impressive! Why do you tempt me? I am already in trouble as I preordered the upcoming 1/32 Boulton Paul Defiant kit from Kotare that is due out in 2028. I already accept that my stash will out live me. Now I am wrapping my head around the idea of my stash growing after I am gone?
Hahahahahaha.
Just noticed the sale includes their new BF-109…so not just Spitfires.

Have seen that before. I guess it was Ray Hanna at the controls here.
