Dragon Black Label 1/35 Saladin Armoured Car

Not sure if this is really visible on these pics, I lightened the centre of each flat surface to give a little contrast to what is a fairly monotone colour. Likely it will disappear a little under further washes and filters.

It shows up in the photos :+1:

Cheers Robin, I wasn’t sure if it was my eyes or not. Just added the black using Vallejo 70.862 black grey, I felt that pure black would have been too stark. I used white tack, however I didn’t press it hard against the surfaces as I wanted a more feathered edge to the black. Roughly 2/3rd’s green to 1/3rd black which is how I was always told to paint the real deal.

Looking very good! Lovely model, after reading this I got one as well, blackplage or not… :grinning:

Looks excellent Max. I can see the lightened centers that you painted as well.

Very nicely done. Lovely cam.

Looking ace right now!

All looking good! Are you going to depict that complicate -looking tow cable on the front (I appreciate you may have left it off for painting)?

I will be yes, got the cable ends in the HKCW update set, and will likely make the cable myself using copper wire.

Roger that; It confused the hell out of me - trying to get it to sit right - (on my ancient Firing Line one) - in the end I half covered it with cam net!).

Just the lights and reflectors done, however I find this really satisfying haha not sure why. It’s only when you see things up close that you see your mistakes. A second pass with clear red is required on the rear reflectors. I did paint the BCF extinguishers also using Vallejo 71.011 Armour Green but I need a better bronze green as the real deal is a deep gloss green. Anyone got any suggestions?

A decent Bronze Green is Revell enamel No 65; just cover with gloss varnish - especially if you’re adding a decal of course; probably the best Bronze Green there is for 1:35 British stuff.

Cheers, I’d looked at Humbrol but never thought about Revell. I’ll have to wait until I can get to the model centre. I wish I had some decals for BCF’s or a printer that printed white, they are really expensive.

Accurate Armour’s set comes with decals but I’m not suggesting you stump up for them! I’m sure you can suggest the labels with a bit of white and a fine brush, after all, you only really need to sort of hint at it all depending on how they’re seated in the bracket.

Detail painting ongoing, just small things such as the drivers hatch fitted, handles painted and the .30 tripod and strap painted plus the co-ax barrel. I’ve added an angled piece of plastic inside the gunners sight to replicate the mirror. The object glass will be one of the last things fitted along with it’s wiper. I’ve a cam net to make and fit and also fit the .30 browning and ammo box to it’s mount. The wheels have not been started yet which is on to-do list.

That has come out looking so good Max. You have done the lights and reflectors spot on. I know a few mentioned about the ride height issues, but was that with this kit or one of the other versions, and if so, did you have the same issues or did the resin wheels sort it ? I know people have also mentioned the ride height on the Academy Warrior which has put me off getting one.

I ignore people saying Rob or any other variant of Robin to me.
Sometimes I have to ignore them a loong time
