Faffing about with foam-a mojo motivator

I was experiencing a bit of a drop off in mojo at the bench, . A couple of projects almost there that I cant seem to get across the line. I decided to just faff about with some xps foam, originally to create a bit of a background for one of the shelf queens, but I soon found a new drug… at this stage its still just about figuring it out, but Im getting a real buzz put of it. . I might actually use as intended, but equally might just stick em in a frame for the cave… anyhow heres my work to date.
Only the stone wall with vegitation is complete.
Barn needs ridge tiles and some final details added and weathering
“Industrial” unit has just been sealed and given a primer/ base-coat. This is going to be my Christmas project. Comments and suggestions very graciously welcomed.

Niiiice, you could go into full production with those. 1:35 scale? They’re both excellent, quibble might be a few rainwater streaks & darker staining at the base of the wall – but subtle, it’s way too easy to overdo it. :+1: :+1:

Pretty impressive for just a back burner project… They look terrific :+1:

Nicely done Paul- all of those would make excellent backdrops for figures or vehicles. The stone-walled house is my favourite of the bunch- the color and shape of the stones, the woodwork and the moss give it an authentic tired and forgotten look.

Defienrly purchase worthy if you decided to produce them.

You should do a tutorial, or a step-by-step description (I know, it takes up valuable modelling time!). I like the random stone work on the barn. Do you use a ball-point pen, or a blade, to carve stones and brick-work, or something else altogether? Also curious as to which primer you used on foam. I carved a stone wall and primed it with Citadel model primer - the primer ate tiny holes into the foam; actually it added to the texture, but I may not always want it.

I hope I’ll be able to faff about the same way you do!! Always wanted to carve my own diorama backgrounds, but up-to-day I just relied on my credit card. Very well done, next time please consider to take some wip pics!!
