Finemolds 1/48th Snowspeeder ”Sandspeeder” in Caunter. Finished!

Decided to make a companion piece for my 1/48th Matilda and AT-ST in caunter scheme. The kit is lovely, fit is just about perfect. Pre-shaded with red brown and the first colour of Portland Stone on. As with the other build in this scheme I have going on will wait for paint to fully cure then mask up for the silver grey.

And the previous pair;

Shouldn´t it be a Desert Speeder then?

Yeah, I was thinking Sandspeeder… title edited appropriately, actually meant to do that initially.

Was not sure how the scheme was going to come out, but spent a long time working out what I thought would work, and I must say I’m pretty happy with it.

Just need to correct the Slate masking on one of the guns but don’t think anything else will be changed.

Thanks very much John @Johnnych01 and Ryan @Tank_1812.

Have been working on the pilots and the cockpit. Went with Khaki for the jumpsuits and some greens and browns in there too, sorry about the out of focus pic but looks better that way! Oh and some personalisation of the helmet colours in that Star Wars way.

Wow! Nice work on the camo and the figures. Fun project.

Thanks Zon @Zonarch, it’s a nice change to do your own thing. Cockpit finished, not super detail painted but enough for a bit of interest with the lid on.

Onto the chipping now…

Really nice work on the cockpit and crew. Sensible muted tones. Looks the part 100%

I agree with John, a very nicely done subtle paint job, excellent build, :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:.

Many thanks fellas. Been away from bench for a bit waiting for some decals to arrive from a good friend left over from a 1/35th Matilda build.

Decal placement exercise in action, started chipping but going to clear coat and decal before going any further.

Decals started, almost done. Sides loosely follow actual defiance tank scheme, nose is a nod to snowspeeder scheme with the red V ‘cause that’s what I had, and it looks cool!

Underside is a bit of fun with a figure from a Lancaster decal set. More to put on bottom, and maybe a red number on the white at front of canopy.

Lovely neat work Jim. Decals give it some nice colour as well.

I like this a lot, very good “what if” colour scheme. I seem to remember seeing X-Wings somewhere painted in USAF and USN colour schemes.

This it ? From the Star wars build I ran ?

I don’t know if this is wonderfully wacky or wackily wonderful, but either way exceptionally well executed. Unfortunately, having done both sides of the conflict in the same scheme, you’re going to have the devil of a time deciding whether to do an X-Wing or TIE fighter in ambush camo…
