Fire for Effect!

Hello @MoramarthT,

Sure, yes. As I read through the posts above I began to wonder about the specific role of field artillery, and became interested in the question of whether it was/is direct or indirect support.

Turns out the answer, relative to this campaign, might be that it depends on era and circumstance. Relative to specific eras and events, there are different answers!

Like asking what does a vehicle ride on? well, at some point it was a wood spoke and steel wheel, and at another point, it was a carbon fiber wheel and composite tire. Both answers are right and wrong! :grinning:

Cheers
Nick

A bit confused with the regles. Self propelled are allowed or not ?

self-propelled guns (Stugs, SU-x) are out, self-propelled artillery is in

Ok, thank you.

So, a Wespe is OK since it’s an SPG, right?

How about an M8 Scott HMC (Howitzer Motor Carrier)?

Wespe is fine since it’s self-propelled artillery. I think the Scott is more of a close support vehicle, so I’ll say no to that.

Assuming no real life woes, I will join in when the time comes with something. The closet already contains an M7 Priest, M12 GMC, Hummel, Wespe, 10.5cm le.F.H. 18/6(Sf.) auf Geschüetzwagen IV, and Raketenwerfer auf Fahrgestelle Pz.Kpfw. IV.

For the campaign description, I would have gone with: Softball, not Baseball.

That was a joke.

I’m sorry to see the M8 Scott gone, but it does something in common with Stug / stuH family of AFVs.
I’ll have a look see through my boxes to see what fits this campaign.

I am in, maybe an old school Matchbox Wespe :slightly_smiling_face:

I might chime in with this big boy:

Tom and Peter, the matchbox is a small gem that would indeed fit both campaigns, but I will use it here. :slightly_smiling_face:

I would love to see that!

I have the plastic, the glue and, maybe, the paint. So why not?. Now for the build to begin!

If you’re keen to start now I think it would be in for the Great War campaign already in progress.

Not that keen… I can wait. Busy with a M3 Lee from Miniart…

Guess I could join in with a British version of the M7 Priest, as used during the African campaign.

So far all I did was adding the new nose. Is that still ok?

The hoped for endresult;

That kit will benefit from some nice worn T-51 tracks from Panda Plastics.

That later suspension layout on the box art is probably better suited to a Burma vehicle:
WD census number S-215863 from 18 Fld Regt RA (Cockney Gunners ) Burma 1945.
