First Spitfire

Thought I’d share my little lad’s (6.5 yr old) go at Airfix’s 1/72 Spitfire in Polish livery. It’s his third model, first aircraft and about 90% his own work. I helped him with some of the fine detail painting and decal placement, and really proud of what he’s achieved with mostly just guidance from me.

I’m not much of a airplane modeler but it looks outstanding to me great job

The last time I did an aircraft model was the old 1/72 or 1/76 Spitfire about 30 years ago.

I thought this “new” kit was lovely for an entry-level model.

The base is part of the kit and slots into the bottom of the plane. Saved me from having to make a base for it myself :joy:

I’m pretty sure I saw this kit in development as it was showcased on ‘Hornby - A Model World’ - a TV series shown on UK’s ‘Yesterday’ Channel (I think) towards the end of last year. Hornby own Airfix now, along with Scalextric etc.

For a 6.5 year old, that’s really very good and the portents are good for an adult expert.
