Years ago a large group build was held to build vehicles of 3IDs two Thunder Runs in 2003.
I visited the museum a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to see the builds are still there.
Very cool tribute
I participated by building the technical truck around 5:53; my model didn’t make the display however.
Yup, the curator really likes the display and has no plans to replace it. That is the M7A2 BFIST that I built in the upper right below.
Some of you may remember it. It represents a vehicle from A Co, 1-64 AR, 3ID. It was hit by an RPG on the left side rack.

This was the actual vehicle after the RPG hit.
Great place for a great display!
The “First Into Baghdad” Abrams is now on display at the US Army Armor & Cavalry Collection on Fort Moore.
And the “Last vehicle out of Iraq,” a Caiman, is on display inside the Mounted Warrior Museum just outside Ft. Cervezas.
Where is this Ft?
Formerly known as Ft. Hood. Next to the sad town of Killeen, TX.
I should have known that.
Looks like a great museum with excellent displays!
