How very gracious of them. They make excellent airbrushes, comparable to my Iwatas.

Interesting.
I’ve been thinking of getting a new airbrush for quite a while, but not been sure what to get.
I’ve got a cheap Chinese thing that’s a bit temperamental and I haven’t had much look with it. It doesn’t like Vallejo, but I haven’t tried Gunze or Tamiya with it.

Hmm.. timely. Been thinking about a new trigger style airbrush as I get cramp in my fingers if I use a conventional type for more than a couple of minutes.

I recommend pulling the trigger (pun intended). I’ve been using a trigger style airbrush (different brand) for something like ten years. I’m not that talented, but let me tell you brother, without a doubt, the grip feels much more natural and way less painful to use. HTH.

Looking at the GHAC-98D which was reviewed here. Seems to have worked well with Vallejo, although I think the problem I had might’ve been due to too much pressure as it seems to dump the paint and splatter it. Could do with a new compressor I can knock it down on, maybe later in the year though.

I just need to check the sizes on my air hose to get sure it will fit.

Yes, I use the GHAC-98D with Vallejo and have no problems. Maybe it’s because you have thinned it too much?

Straight out of the bottle, no thinning. It’s probably what I’m doing rather than the brush, although I don’t expect great results from it. It’s been a while since I last tried to be honest, have stuck with my tried and trusted Passche clone that works with everything I put through it.

I was going to try the weekend with it but ended up being mega busy with other things. I do want to try Gunze as it usually goes down less ‘wet’ than Vallejo.

Most recent bottles of Model Air I have purchased go well without thinning, yes

Just put my order in. The Ghac-98 was out of stock, so got the ghad-39. More or less similar. Will work for what I need.
Looking forward to testing it out. Later in the year I’ll invest in a new compressor.

Thanks again for sharing the discount code.

Here’s a photo of my order delivered end of last week. I got the bundle with the stand.

Looks like a nice piece of kit. Hopefully mine should be here by the weekend.

How would you go about cleaning it? Spray paint thinner and cleaner through it or would it need completely stripping?

I have the swallowtail Barbatos Rex edition, and absolutely love the trigger. It cleans up easily, and having multiple tips/ needles at hand makes painting a breeze.

Personally I like to strip the airbrush (this and any other) after each session to ensure it is completely clean, but I know other friends who just shoot thinner and store it until next time.

I, too, know guys that use both methods. Some guys shoot lacquer thinner through the airbrush until clean and hang it up. When it stops working, they strip it down for a full clean.
Others strip it down for a full clean every time they are done with it.
Personally, I treat my airbrushes like my firearms. Every time I am done with it, I strip it down for a full clean before putting it away. I never want either one to stop working right when I need them to.

Thanks, good advice. I will want to be keeping this in good condition. I usually spray water based acrylic, Vallejo mostly. But have others like AK, Hataka and Mig yet to try. I’ve got a bottle of Vallejo’s airbrush cleaner and that generally does the job. Will have to get used to stripping and cleaning it, it’s got a lot more going on than I’m used to.

And on that, it arrived today!

Looks and feels like a quality piece of kit. Looking forward to giving it a test. I’ve got the holidays coming up soon, so I’ll give it a whirl then when I have time to get to grips with. Luckily, all my existing hoses fit it, so no bother there. Will starting putting a few pennies aside for a new compressor at a later date.

Again, thanks for sharing the discount code.
