Is closed due to the govt shutdown. Im bummed as I was hoping to visit it while I was traveling to Kentucky. Did walk around and took pics of a very beat up ex range target M4A4.
LST building is not at the museum.
Too bad it was closed for your visit. But that Sherman looks pretty good for a former range target. Aside from the banana peeled main gun muzzle it looks downright decent. Of course it could use a fresh paint job ![]()
The side facing the Artillery strikes are in quite a bad shape.
I’d agree, significantly better than Chieftain targets on Lulworth Ranges.
and then you see what’s waiting to be dragged on and fired at in future, the horror. Lots of AVLB and AVRE there.
Its good training.
Looks pretty cool Dan. Hope you have been well!

Hello Frank! How are you doing?
Doing well my friend. Good to see you!
Frank! Long time, no see. Good to have you back!
When I was there in ‘76 the building was tightly packed with vehicles waiting to be restored.
They probably are all at Benning now and have been restored.
