Gloss coat before decals turns out too glossy... Alternative process?

I agree as future (and all the different names) appears to be going away.

Please share the intel on these fabulous new products! I always try to be open minded and learn from the sages.

With that said, some off my favorite Floquil paints are old enough to retire and collect social security.  :grinning:

@CFster Colin, thanks for the detailed reply.

Had an opportunity to visit the closest Hobby Town and planned to pick up Alclad Gloss/Krystal Koat and thinner…of course they didn’t have any.

Tamiya paint rack was picked practically clean.

At least there was a fair amount of AK.

Thanks for the lacquer & acrylic details.

I’ve stuck with what’s worked nearly perfectly for me on the past but am always interested in quality products.

Fixed typo and missed taking a Mr Hobby picture.

I’m willing to try your recommendation. I appreciate the shared information thumbs :+1:

I’ve tested a lot of new products most of which failed to deliver as well as the old products. Been in the hobby for 50+ years  Sometimes something new comes that actually is better.

I have a method that’s worked nearly flawless for 30 year years and over a 1,000 decals but my enamel Floquil Krystal Kote supply is limited. It will eventually run out. I’d like to have a new product still in production ready when I run out of Floquil Krystal Kote.

I have been using Alclad Aqua Gloss for years, really good stuff, and the AK-Real is just like Tamiya only with a better color selection.
