Good metallic paint for small details

Anyone have a method or paint they like for small details? The details in question this time are switches in an F-18 cockpit like those shown here

I have a few metallic paints in Vallejo, humbrol, tamiya and alclad. The humbrol and tamiya work well, but I find them to be too shiny for small details

Quantio, Red Fox, any raised decal set is going to be better than doing it yourself.

Most of those buttons and switches are gray not metallic. I used a light gray on my recent Hornet build, possibly Light Ghost Gray or Neutral Gray, I don’t recall which. But for smaller metallic stuff, Humbrol 56 works great. It’s a bit darker and grayer.

Think I’ll go with gray then! I mixed up a neutral gray with Vallejo that is pretty close to the tamiya neutral gray!

Just be advised that Tamiya’s Neutral Gray is a much darker shade like WWII era Neutral Gray 42, than today’s Neutral Gray FS 36270.

If you truly want a metal finish, than AK True Metal paint.

I thought about some Quinta decals for this build but decided against it
