Thanks!
Yeah that was going to be my plan if I could find a cheapish set as I didnt want to fork out any more money on it really. Plus, I could only find 3mm letters and they are to big, it needs 2mm … I will see how steady my hand is later with a micro bristle brush
Someone on here, may be able to print them for you.
Or black lion decals, Netherlands.
These are 1/50, would that fit (cut the decal in half) ?
Old school roller brush John.
A piece of dowel with a hole drilled through just big enough to slip a skewer or something through it.
Paint the black lettering inside and let it dry. Stick the part down on double sided tape. Put some yellow paint on some kitchen baking paper to use as a pallet, then roll the dowel on it to thinly coat the dowel in paint, then do a quick run along some paper to make sure the paint is not sloppy or too thick. Roll the dowel lightly over the part and gradually build up the yellow over the lettering. You may need to let it dry between roller coats.
Cut out a rectangle mask leaving the edges bare and spray on your Orange… Bob’s your non-gender specific relative.
I have seen guys do it with sponge and not dowel, but the risk of paint in the lettering is a bit too high for me.
Can I put this in? It will be towing an M127 semitrailer, connected via an M365 dolly (with the truck’s mirrors and troop seats correctly finished and in MERDC camo).
Did a few more tiny bits of detailing…
On the left hand side of the trailer at the very front side on the swan neck, and again halfway down the swan neck are 2 mounts for double guides for the small hand operated which cable. Not included in the kit, so had to roughly built up… Just used scrap bits of plastic and 3mm lengths of plastic rod with a V cut all the way round the middle.
Added some very basic handles on the pins on the block and pulley.
Some final PE.
And all the connectors on the trailer front, 3 airlines and 2 electrical…
Still lots of small detail areas to paint and add …
You guys sure come up with unusual scenarios Denimo.
The main point of this build is to have two components that are separate from each other, but when connected have independent movement. Originally I expected this would, by default, be some form of self powered component and a component reliant on the first for actual movement - then you come up with this twist!
So, you have component A - the trailer, connected to component B - the dolly, by a fifth wheel arrangement. Both are connected, but have independent movement of each other. I guess that fits the parameters I posted.
The truck is a 3rd component bonus - and that brings in the element of where a vehicle is towing. Okay, you are in.
Loving these details John. We will have you building full blown scratch built models like Angel soon
Thanks Peter, I appreciate your understanding and support.
There’s a (hopefully) brief hiatus on my NATO Land Rover and trailer build, while I repair and add a few finishing touches to my 1/300 Corps HQ project.
Just to emphasise my role in the martial but clerical scheme of things, I thought you might all appreciate this:
That’s bloody funny mate.
My life!
Got a base coat on the 3 airlines and 2 electric cables.
Will let the coat dry and then I can see the primed areas I missed and give each a new touch up coat.
Put the non existent decals on the green 2kg tractor extinguishers and the large red trailer ones.
The blue backing on the 2kg ones came from a decal off the AFV club Churchill fascine carrier which was cut into 4, then white 1/48 aircraft bomb decals put on top… Red extinguisher decals were all from 1/48 aircraft weapons.
New pics of the quad bike.
Gecko Models L85A2 with L123A2 UGL.
A few equipment from Blackdog.
Fat Frog Scale Models wheels
Meng Models bolts added on the trailer
A cable added for the winch with a hook rebuilt with flattened tin wire, because the one provided in photoetched part is too thin.
To simulate the cable cover, I used a piece of heat shrink sleeve .
That looks terrific. Nice stowage in the trailer and the Quad is the real star … very cool indeed.
Thank you very much. Now I am working on the pilot.
Good continuation with your Scammell truck !
