Now, I’ve been working on this one, on and off, for about 18 months, then I had the idea of getting it finished for tomorrow. It depicts General Washington and one of his Continental Soldiers as they might have appeared at Valley Forge. Both figures are from Fer Miniatures and are 1/24. Just as a side note, last year, I had the chance to get the Elite original of the Continental Soldier in white metal but, missed out!

Beautiful tribute for the 250th! I like the way you have set this out, adding a little height between the figs and giving them space so you can appreciate the details in both. Those striking reds and military blues really grab the eye against the snowy groundwork. Superb detailing on the smaller uniform details as well . I like that the chilly, snowy scene works well with the way the uniforms are sculpted- you can almost feel that chill wind that is lifting their cloaks!

It’s funny, I’ve been watching a 5 part series on Netflix called The American Experiment and i didn’t realize how little I knew about the revolution and aftermath of trying to get the constitution written etc. Amazing; my memory is getting worse as I approach 60 but we weren’t taught most of this in school. In fairness, it’s a course of study in and of itself that could take years.
Which has piqued my interest in American revolution time period figures like yours Gary, and I was searching for some online and found FeR- one of my all time favorite brands, they’re very high quality, and almost bought the ones you show here. I’ll buy them at some point; they have a line of figures from that era which include British, French and Spanish as well.
Hi Richard, couldn’t agree more about FeR. They really are superb figures. There are a few I’ve got my eye on, including some British from the revolutionary war plus the American civil war. The Minuteman in 1/24 is especially on my bucket list. I’ve also got a Colonial Soldier from TFB miniatures, sculpted by John Rosengrant. I’m saving that for a special occasion though .
Hi Richard, sorry but I think they’re out of business. There was quite a bit of controversy over them on Planetfigure last year as one of the of the owners was locked up for things best not spoken about on a family forum! As far as I remember, they were also pretty bad at actually getting the orders out as well. I waited 2 weeks for my figure to be delivered, then I found out that they were based about 4 miles from where I live!
As a kid in New York we weren’t allowed fireworks. Two houses down lived a cop who clearly had to confiscate a lot of illegal fireworks in the spring - he had the best 4th of July displays ever!
