I haven’t heard of them (but that’s not surprising😂). A bit of chat here on Reddit:

Dont know about them but steer clear of .Oakridge Hobbies in Lemont,Il. Asked them to verify something on a “used” kit. Took a week to get snotty answer about not in the area ,will have someone check. 3 months later, I’m still waiting. And their yelp reviews are mostly 1-2s…

Hi Joe. I don’t know it but had a look now you’ve asked. There are some online reviews with almost all being positive but noting the company wasn’t well known. It seems to be a grouping of hobby and Japan related entities (gundam, Japanese snacks, trading cards, kawaii products etc…) being run out of Cerulean Tower 11 very near Shibuya in Tokyo (I know the tower well as I used to run through that area regularly when I lived there). The prices look ok and the sweetener seems to be free standard shipping (big consideration for those of us in Oz as shipping can often be as much as the model when coming from US or Europe). It seems to have been around for a couple of years at least, so it’s odd that it’s not better known.

To counter that positive view, ‘scam-detector.com’ gave the ‘plastic models republic’ website a medium low trust value. That doesn’t mean the company is dodgy, just the website raises some flags and caution is advised.

Sorry I can’t be more help.

Thanks JG I read it and it is weird that they have no contact info but it seems the orders came through on time.

From going through their websites and staff I think this is a small group of people who do this as a side line and they likely have ‘day’ jobs. I think the email/web form contact only gives them control over when and how they engage customers. It does seem that customers are getting their orders though.

Their website does raise flags and I can see why. I was doing some searches which returned results that were odd. For example a Tamiya Horch comes up with three different prices that vary by around $ 26. This may be symptomatic of a small group of people that have set up this entity and associated web sites but don’t take time to maintain or update.

yes i noticed that too. many kits there are listed multiple times for different prices, sometimes much lower than the first listing. i did see others that increased in price as you went. i am a little hesitant though, i don’t want to give out my cc# and risk it being stolen. i don’t see any evidence of that though but how can you tell.

No mtter who you order from use Paypal “Goods &Sevices” to pay. If thing turn to :poop: at least you get your money back. (PP"Friends & Family", you’re on your own.) I’d order and use PP. If you get a good deal, great. If it turns to kimchi, all you are out is aggravation.
