Helicopter 2 Campaign

If you are talking about the below scheme, it was called the Land Camouflage Scheme. The colors were Medium Gray (FS35237), Field Green (FS34095), and Flat Black (FS37038).

The European one should also be overall Field Green (FS34095). This was the standard color for USMC helos and vehicles since Vietnam.

Kitech was sooo close, they got the Flat Black right, missed the FS number for the Field Green (097 vs. 095) and had the wrong gray altogether. For the Euro Scheme they were close, Euro Green FS34092 vs. Field Green FS34095.

Small update on the Kiowa. I have been working some whack hours at work, so not much bench time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s copy of the Italeri kit and a miss translation of color codes. Italeri didn’t get it right either with a OD call out.

Well, based on a previous Kitech mistake I would have agreed. Not that there are a lot of tooling choices when building a kit like this, so the assembly instructions are almost identical. But the sprues are different, Italeri used paint for the lenses on the optical head, Kitech uses clear parts and Italeri has a 1 piece main rotor, Kitech has a 3 piece rotor.

And mine is done.
A pretty easy build, and a surprisingly easy paint scheme.

well I’m half way through the assembly of the cabin and you can see the difference in my version of the kit as I’m doing it strictly OOB.

Easy paint scheme???

The use of pre-cut masks makes it easy.

Well the postwoman has been and left some goodies from Army Cast in the Czech Republic. An M3 Browning for my OH58D. The casting is really crisp on the parts and it has a brass two piece barrel and etch ammunition chute.

well I have managed to assemble the cabin area and everything is done except the fire extinguisher.

Looking good. One pointer though, the seats should be black as well.

@HeavyArty damn I spent an hour looking for pictures of the Seats and all i could find was pictures of the front of the cockpit

ok well I have had a busy weekend on the home front so not much modelling done but I did correct the colour of the seat covers and add the fire extinguisher. I have also started work on the engine bay

Another small update, I have been bouncing around different projects so progress has been slow.

Oh, and the white putty is to fill some sink holes.
