How does hobby link Japan shipping work? I am trying to place an order and it says the stuff is in the “private warehouse” according to their FAQ it says that items in the private warehouse will have shipping charged after they receive payment. Is there no way to see the shipping estimate before I pay? The items I want are hard to find elsewhere, and a good price, but if I get hit with a $40-50 surprise shipping they are no longer a good deal
There are different options on shipping. The cheapest is always by ship, so allow 3 months delivery time.

Shipping was $36.11. This was ordered back in October so it should arrive in January.
HLJ private warehouse is, like its name says, like your own warehouse on their facilities. If you have a kit that may run out of stock, you may pay for it and put it there and then wait until you find more items and make a bigger order (for saving on shipping).
This is an optional service, you can simply order and get it shipped straight away. At the time of ordering you should see the different options for private warehouse and shipping methods (and their cost).
I don’t quite understand what you are asking?
After you add something to your shopping cart and go to the shopping cart page, you can “Choose Order Handling”, either your Private Warehouse or Ship Now. If you choose Ship Now, it automatically shows you the shipping options with costs on right side of the page.
If you choose Private Warehouse, the item goes to your Private Warehouse (it can take an hour or more to show up in there depending what time/day you order). When you go to your personal page and click Private Warehouse, there is a button that says “Add All Shippable Items” at the top of the item list. Click that and they go to the right and shipping options are again shown with costs. If you remove something from the shipping list it goes/stays in your private warehouse and the shipping costs get re-adjusted.
Hmm when I go to check out I only get the private warehouse option. No ship now option.
There is no price for shipping with the private warehouse option. It appears I need to pay for the order first, then I pay for shipping after to release it from the private warehouse?
I have only used them a couple of times, but it seemed to be the case that if I wanted to order something that was not available immediately, putting it in the private warehouse was the only option. So, I estimated shipping by putting a few things in my cart that were the same size as best as I could tell, to get an estimate of how much shipping would be. But, I was never brave enough to put something in the private warehouse to figure out shipping later, so just ordered when I was buying things that were in stock. I would love to find out if there is a way to figure out what shipping will be in any case, as I was not able to figure that out…
As far as I can tell you can cancel anything in the warehouse up to 10 days later penalty free.
It would be nice if they supplied estimates though
Everything I want says in stock, but Good idea to try adding something else just to see. Reason I am so cautious is I know on hobby easy sometimes it seems like a good deal till you go to checkout
Yes, items must be purchased and in your private warehouse before you can get shipping costs on items in your private warehouse.
Not sure why you aren’t getting a Ship Now option for items that are in stock that you place in your shopping cart. I assume you’ve hit “Go to Cart and Checkout”? I just tried it again and no problem - get both the Private Warehouse and Ship Now options.
It looks like a glitch on one item I wanted. Says it’s in stock but then in the cart says in stock in 3-5 days. Guess that is why ship now isn’t an option.
Yes this practice is unlawful, at one time the post inspector and secretary of state would have this stop but because of this it should be shut down and those who conduct business over the wire should be and is of a required Federal Bureau Investigation service action. But as we have no goverment interaction, not so as for refund for and of fraudulent theft, unless you really need it pay for it I had same or similar questionable trade years ago stop doing business with HLJ criminal acts.

All you have to do is add another 5 kits to your order then you’ll be In Like Flint.
