Hobbyroom Migration - Docu-Mocku-mentary

Wanted to share this fiasco in the making…wink.

First box of ~350 kits, from old house headed to new house. The new hobbyroom is temporary as we have contacted a couple of contractors to add a 4 car garage plus 18 ×12 hobbyroom to the new house. That’s probably done by fall if all goes well.

This will chronicle my adventures & misadventures.

Cheers

Please do thoughts and prays that Spruebrothers.com doesn’t put that damned Pz IV J middle on sale again.

There’s a couple more in the main stash!

I fully agree. Thin your stash, make mine thicker.

You the stash thinning, cull, purge or right sizing may have to happen

I haven’t been in the old hobby room yet. I just rounded up stuff scattered around the old house :derelict_house:

~29 kits so far!

Anyone know why it’s difficult to get pictures :camera_with_flash: to upload? Seems to take six attempts.

With the loose 84 kits moved, I can get into the actual stash kits tomorrow.

I’m suspecting Kali-Katt didn’t keep an accurate inventory…

Alexa, what is the current estimated time to complete every model currently in my hobby room?

Based on your current rate of construction, one million, two hundred thirty-seven thousand, nine hundred and sixty-three years. Give or take.

Right there with you brother!!

Well, we are here to help, that is sorta what this forums all about. I’ll start helping by taking that Takom M48A5….

Doug, you have to factor in the robot AI assistants we modelers will have available in the near future. Then the time to finish all the kits drops to merely one hundred years!

Yo Wade, won’t you need another annexe for the future showcases? Come to think of it, where are the ones you must already have gonna go? Having re-located ourselves 15 months ago, I finally found a good acrylic case (2nd hand at auction) a week ago and just today, finally finished repairing the last of the models I’d had to box up. I thought my packing/padding was good enough, alas far from the truth. Nice to finally display ‘em anyway.

I don’t envy you moving that stash Wade. I hope you’ve got a big U-Haul and a strong back. Does the new house have a temporary hobby room until the new one is built?

@TopSmith Greg, I’m finding kits i didn’t recall were in the stash! If an extra M48A5 pops up its yours. Found an extra Trumpeter T-64.

I think Kali-Kat got a hold of my credit card :credit_card:

@Dioramartin Tim, valid point. I may end up with the stash out in the garage on a shelves. Wall wise now i have 30 linear feet in the current hobbyroom and about 36 in the temporary one. The long term one. I should have about 60 linear feet. I hav 18 linear feet of display case and will have to add more etc. Most of my older models may get tossed in the trash :wastebasket: when moving them from North Carolina to Indiana.

@SSGToms SSGToms Matt, that’s the smart way to do it versus pickup or SUV load at a time!

Making progress…but shut down today with the inclement weather travel restrictions etc.

Yeah there’s no way you’re moving kits this weekend! We’re hunkered down here in Connecticut and waiting for 20" of snow - Monday is already cancelled, too!

My wife laughed when she saw your car packed to the gills. She asked if you were hiding it from your wife, I said no she is well aware .

Are you moving to Indiana from NC, or just a local move within NC?

Wut?
Are you skipping one day and going straight from Sunday to Tuesday?
Will Monday Morning Blues become Tuesday Morning Blues?

Maybe some Bayou Boogie Blues to pick y’all up a bit
and some Bayou Boogie (AI is involved in both of them)

Matt, so true :+1: I stayed home yesterday but am at it again today. We only had ~8 or 9 inches of snow :snowflake:

There’s still a couple more boxes of kits to transport…

I got bored yesterday, took a few pics of the stash and Opus AI (Anthropic- Claude) made a nice inventory sheet. Will post an example.

@Barney Steve, if she like the kit’s in SUV she’s love today’s pictures!

We’re making a local move within Indiana. Have to blame my hobbies to be honest they are space hungry!

Making progress…

According to Opus 4.5’s inventory from the pictures etc my kit count is 246 for what’s in Indiana plus ~25 to 30 in North Carolina, so ~ 270 to 276.

Peak stash was about ~310 IIRC

Opus 4.5 (Anthropic) AI crunched an inventory spreadsheet from pictures of my kit collection. Haven’t found any errors yet etc.

Opus asked what theme of the collection was…I said Evil Empires :smiling_face_with_horns:

Based on what’s in the spreadsheet:

Category Count
WW2 German ~130
USSR/Russian (all eras) ~45
Modern US ~28
British (all eras) ~15
Israeli ~12
NATO German ~10
WW2 US ~8
French 5
Japanese 3

Evil Empires combined: ~175 kits (WW2 German + Soviet/Russian)

That’s about 71% of your armor collection dedicated to the thesis.

The “good guys” (US, British, French, Israeli combined) come in around 68 kits

<<< I found that quite funny as Opus failed to count the 10 German NATO kits as good guys  :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: . Apparently, NATO is a bad word now and I shouldn’t have used it in the description.

So anyway 78 good guys vs 175 evil empire by my opinion
