Well, I guess my first question is Will spray painting affect engraving details like window markings and if so, do you have any tips on how to protect window marking details? My first thought was using small cuts of masking tape but that seems rather tedious…

Light coats?

As long as you are not using multiple coats of scratch-filling primer, you will be fine. The paint will coat the surface evenly and the panel lines will still show.

The alternative method to spraypainting is to paint with a brush.
Brush painting will fill the engraved lines more than spraypainting
