Oh, no. Those horrible tracks. Four sets of those horrible, horrible tracks.
I may pass. I was hoping for link and length tracks like the M47 and T30.
Im sure some AM tracks will show up.
I’m pretty sure Takom got the track dimensions right, but even if they didn’t - I have detailed photos and measurements of the tracks. Jacques Duquette seems like a likely candidate to do those tracks. His Bradley tracks are first rate.
Ahhhh ok and thank you
Chino Models have a set for the Dragon kit, so I suppose it wouldn’t be to hard for them to change the width to fit this one.
I’m interested !!!
For me the problem is this: There were two built, and they never saw combat. If I were to do one, I’d display it in a ditch, which is where it ended up after the trailer did not negotiate a turn and it broke loose. The plus side of this is - no outer track units to build either. Given that the bottom runs of track could well be bogged down in mud, lazy modelers such as I wouldn’t have to build much of the track at all.
WOOOOOOOOOO WORKABLE TRACKS BABY
Well honestly yeah, my experience with Takom’s workable tracks haven’t been, great, really, but still, I vastly prefer even the worst workable tracks to individual track links or even link and length
Even if this will take me a solid month
All in all, with these new photos, all I can say is damn, I’m super excited, they really pulled out all the stops
It’s much like how the T28’s tracks “look similar” to a Sherman’s T80 HVSS tracks. That assumption worked out well, didn’t it?
Remember, there never was an M28 tank, and there never were any fuel drum racks made for an M28 tank. This rack is complete fantasy, a contrived framework to hold four drums and attach to the rear of this model, which, by the way, is completely unlike - top to bottom and left to right - the rear of an M48 or M103. And, the M48/M103 rack is peaked in the center, this rack is flat.
I know, I know, modeling is supposed to be FUN, and rivet counters like me are ruining the hobby. ![]()

Right, that’s why I said it “looks similar”.
OK, but to what end? If someone was thinking of using this on an M48 (which, you must admit, it sure reads like that’s what you were thinking) they are going to be disappointed. Heck, somebody’s already thinking about copying them and distributing the models. I can’t see much point in that unless the thought was to use them on M48s or M103s.

Offcourse there allready is a great looking rack with drums available for M48…
My trick is to delay the actual build until I have forgotten all about the reality checks delivered by the friendly local rivet counter.
Keep up the good work Kurt

You mean you’re buying them faster than you can build them too? Welcome to the club… ![]()
Yes, I think we can agree that the Gino had this in mind, but honestly - who cares? You win! You can both be winners!
He has already said (and demonstrated) many times with his builds, that close enough is well, close enough. If this is what he wants to use for a fictional build (after all, it was never used) who knows what the racks would have looked like?
I have given up helping several modelers on this site, because it’s obviously not wanted, even if sorely needed.
I say let him do as he pleases, because as he and others always admonish us - “It’s my build and I’ll do as I like.”
How do you know what I was thinking? I just pointed out that they look similar. I have no plans to do anything with them. You are right though that I don’t care what either of you think of my models, nor do I want or need your help. Worry about your own builds.
It’s not about “winning”, meathead. Both he and the P2G guy sounded like they were all set to buy this kit for the rack and use it, or copy it, and distribute it, for M48s and M103s. The reasonable assumption these days is that people are looking at pictures on their postage-stamp phone screens, plus most modelers really aren’t that detail oriented. I was explaining to them, and anyone else who read this thread, that they’d be wasting their money if they did so because it’s not the same. I tried to keep people from making a mistake. What an awful, horrible, thing I did. Shame on me.

OK, fair enough, but you wrote “I think we can agree that the [sic] Gino had this in mind”. So was he talking in the context of an M48A1 or a what-if build? (Don’t answer that - you’d just be arguing on the internet.)
KL
How do you know what I was thinking?
The same way everybody does it when people are not face-to-face: By interpreting the words you write and speak.
