Wasn’t the Javelin missile already combat proven before?
I thought the javelin was British made……just curious.

We keep hearing about the death of many Russian Field Commanders ~ we all probably assume this is due to Ukrainian counter-attacks ~ but I would venture to say these deaths are just as likely to have been ordered suicides for failure to successfully preform and reach their assigned goals. Suicides all done in the best World War II RUSSIAN tradition!

Interesting point, but the end result is still the same; they are dead, and the Russian forces are short of combat leadership, leading to further losses! Hope it continues!

Yes, Javelin missiles have been in combat use since at least 2003 during OIF1. It’s not brand new to combat by any means.
Now I know we’ve hit rock bottom in terms of speculation.
Don’t know what to say Khouli - if this were WWII Stalingrad you could count on these being ordered suicides. Have the Russians changed all that much in these past years? Seems Putin is taking his inspiration right out of the ole WWII playbook.
And then Hitler ordered Rommel to commit suicide!
Now if only Putin would commit suicide! That would be great! But it ain’t gonna happen. Oh well!

As I recall one of the news articles, the number two guy was cut from the same cloth (literally KGB, came up in the same ranks etc). So welcome the new boss, same as the old boss.

I think that is a very common feeling in Europe …
Well, if he is Putin 2.0 he may well take the opportunity to make a power grab, bail out of the Ukraine and blame the whole thing on Putin…

The problem is at least as I recall he would be in the same camp that Ukraine is Russia, similar in China thinks Taiwan is China.
Might be hard to find a top guy who doesn’t think that way and who is not jailed or dead. His biggest rival got another 8 yrs in jail, so maybe he would go the other way and sorta have a Mandela story remix but some how I don’t think it will go that way.

Another option is that whoever decides to gamble on a coup will get rid of as much as the
old regime as possible.
He, and others in the know, may have been persuaded otherwise by now…
