This is usually a great show that I try to attend every year. Although I sometimes display with IPMS Dorset or IPMS Wessex, this year I’m going as a punter, and hope to see a few familiar faces.
i hope you post some pictures of the show and update us all at the weekend.
Will do David!
Whats a punter?
@Dan a “Punter” is a slang term for customer, so he is going to pay to get in rather than ride for free on club ticket.
Yes, as David suggests, I won’t be displaying with any club this year, so will be there as a fee paying member of the public.
I haven’t been before and I was hoping to be there on the Models for Heroes stand but other events have overtaken me unfortunately.
Terry, sorry I missed you there but it was quite busy, plus I was enmeshed in talking absolute modelling rubbish with several.
Not to pre-empt any of your photographic efforts, but Pete Smith’s blog, as usual, covered it quite well. See here:
Pete’s Model World : IPMS Salisbury Show 31st May 2025
As always with the Salisbury show, beautiful weather; what’s not to like?
I’m glad we went - the mojo needed a bit of a kicking, so I should be now back on track (pun intended folks!)
I’m looking forward to seeing some of your pictures but thanks for posting a link to that blog, i have an interest in World War One at the moment and i love this diorama
i also like these models as well
There was some nice stuff there I must admit; my only purchase was a 3D printed stowage basket for a Centurion gun tank (as opposed to an AVRE). It only cost a tenner which I thought was pretty reasonable, not least as it obviates etch hell.
Great pics from Pete’s blog- my fav is the inflatable Sherman decoy tank- first time I’ve seen anything like that in scale!
Sorry I missed you too, Brian. I had a nightmare journey up from Swanage. Seems like I became part of the thousands returning home from Dorset at the end of half term!
Finally arrived around 12:45 pm and enjoyed most of the afternoon viewing and talking with many old and new friends. I bought some paints and other bits and pieces, but was only tempted to add one thing to the stash. For £10, I just couldn’t resist!
Pete’s photo’s are as usual great, thanks for that link.
I did take many hundreds of photo’s myself, and I will post a link and alert here, as soon as I get around to uploading them later today.
Well done Terry! At least you got there!
By 1245 I’m afraid we were in the pub. It was a pretty good show as it turned out, plenty to inspire yet also perversely depress one - there were models there the like of which in finish and build, I can only dream about. Sigh.
As promised, my link to a mere 143 pictures taken by me, at the show yesterday.
I’m sure there are overlaps with Pete’s, but from different angles etc, so still worth browsing.
Happy modelling!
Definitely worth browsing - good pics there Terry!
Thanks for the photos Terry. Some lovely models there! Particularly like the yellow float plane taking off. That water effect is fantastic!
I agree there were some fantastic models there, Sam. The float plane is a Beaver, and I was a little frustrated I couldn’t get around the other side to take better pictures! Glad you can appreciate it though.
Glad you appreciate the pics too, @BootsDMS !
Looks like a good show. Loads of great builds.
Well I’m all over the place checking out the pics from a couple of model shows, I came back to this post and watched the video pinned by Terry @Terry1954, well worth the time to view. There is some talent out there my friends and the British chaps across the pond have got it going on, must be something in the Tea
