Iwata Eclipse HP-CS nozzle

I have the 2024 model infinity CR+ 2-in-1 with .2 & .4 headset, & I’ve not even used the .2 set yet, as the .4 is fine enough for my use, including freehand Nato 3 colour camo.
I’ll try out the .2 set when I am confident enough to paint the 1/48th & 1/35th German camos.

I also have the HP CS, (15 + years old), that I dropped head first on the floor, so I feel your pain.
Airbrushes.com have the parts for the HP CS, who also serviced & repaired my clumsiness, but looking at the UK parts list prices, I guess it won’t be much cheaper to Bulgaria.

The parts availability in the UK, & very reasonable price of spares for the H&S also had a big part in my decision to get the H&S.

“I actually had the older Infinity CR Plus, but sold it, because the trigger had issues. They say in the 2024 models they fixed the triggers. What is your impression on this?”

From what I saw and read, the trigger ‘issue’, having to pull back the trigger quite far before any paint delivery, is intentional.

This was not what I was used to, so I read up about ‘fixes’ on YouTube, involving 1 or 2 PTFE seals from their (very reasonably priced) replacement seals set.
You place them between the trigger assembly & needle guide, which takes the whip or delay out of it, which is my preference.
This mod is fully reversible as all you are using is 2 seals.

Plus points:

  • The .4 and .2 nozzles are BIG enough to see, pick up, and clean with my clumsy hands.
  • It is very very easy to handle & clean.
  • No issues at all in spraying ‘hot’ lacquers or thick primers.
  • The nozzle & needle prices are UKP £19/€22 & £14/€16, not £50+
  • The Harder & Steenbeck – Airbrush Service Kit is £36/€43, waaay cheaper than the Iwata kit, worth getting.
  • The needle lock handle pre-sets are very handy & worth learning how to use it. This helps me a lot.

Not so good, (for me), is the green GREX handle I use (because, hands), is a little loose fit compared to the HP CS, but it is no issue in use.

The 2025 Infinity is now available with titanium nozzles and needles, although I haven’t had a reply about if these can be retrofitted to the 2024 model.

Last word, I haven’t used my HP CS at all, in the 2 years I’ve had the H&S, it’s that easy to use.
