I think everyone is missing the big clues here. Of all the thousands and thousands of pictures we have of the late war German heavies nearly all of them are painted in primer. It just happens to be under the factory applied camo schemes, sooo technically not wrong. But very misinformed. I at first thought he was getting his info from Panzer Colors 1,2,3.
Are we talking about these photos? The ones posted at the beginning of this thread? This is of the 3/sPzAbt 503, built in late June, 1944.
Obviously this predates the order dated August 19th mandating factory-applied camouflage.
If you blow up the picture, there is a reddish brown spot at the muzzle in the bore. Is it Rust or Red Oxide Primer!!! How many people here are having to take Sedatives to cure insomnia over this fleeting mystery???
