A friend has a similar Silhouette. It is great for cutting adhesive masks but it was limited in how thick of a plastic sheet it could do cleanly. I would investigate that if it was you main reason for purchasing.
I was at one with my wife the day before they announced the buyout. That store had kits, but of brands I’d never heard of.

There was a fair bit of terrain making things - those little pre-made HO trees, molds, various grasses and ground cover kinds of things, various wood supplies for crafting.
Be careful in the parking lot - geezers seem to have a lot of trouble parking and unparking - saw two near misses while waiting for my wife to come out and then someone nearly hit us as we were leaving…
As a follow-on, my wife told me the woman at the store today said they have a big delivery from their warehouse coming in overnight. I don’t know what is in the warehouse, but maybe good stuff too?
Go to JoAnn’s for their plastic boxes and bins…really good and sturdy snap-on fastener lids for 40-60% off…huge boxes that should last a lifetime…really good deal that is often better than Amazon.
That’s about .75 inches after paint in 1/35. Given that most gun shields and modern plate steel for miitary applications is 3/8 inch, it should work just fine.
If you need anything thicker, do what to PE manufacturers do - double it up.
