Hi All, My name is Arie. I’m a long time hobyist regarding WW2 Armor and U-Boats. Started my hobby some odd 45 years ago. But had to take a pause for almost 30 years inbetween. Just last year began to pick up my hobby again. Green virus (sorry the expression) keeps getting me. I did however collect kits and documentation all these years. As a result I created a website http://www.model-maniac.nl. Pls check it out. I’m trying to get out correct information. My motto is, help each other to learn. If you like to know more, see the website and fill out the contact form for eventual questions you have.
Hi Grandtoad, thnx. Stay Healthy and happy building. !! Love your country, been there almost 15 times. Due to Corona not this year, but maybe next year.
Hi Arie,
Welcome back and welcome to the new Armorama forums! This is a great place to be! I agree with Mark, we all seem to follow the same pattern - model till our late teens, get involved with cars, girls, then college (or in my case the Army), then life gets in the way. Then somewhere in our late 30’s or so we find time and desire to return to our craft. Now with this site, it’s not a lonely hobby anymore. Keep calm and model on!
Hi Mark, Thank you for welcoming me. Yes its very odd to see. But I have to learn a lot. A few things are very different than before. New techniques etc. I was lucky enough in the earlier years to be a frequent visitor of Francois Verlinden’s shop in Lier. There i picked up a few things. Keep healthy and also happymodelling !
Hi Mathew. Yes its been a long time and sometimes its a bit overwhelming to see all these new kits we only could dream of back in the years. But it’s promising to give a lot of hours of building. For me it were policing years. I try to retire after 45 years on the job. Maybe next year. Than i have all the time on my hands I can wish for.
Keep healthy and happy modelling!
I went over and looked at your website. I like the “old school” style. My family is basically in lockdown. My wife and I are in the high risk category, and our son is a grocery store worker (essential), that makes model building the perfect hobby.
I was a frequent visitor of the shop where Francois Verlinden started in Lier Belgium, also I almost ate the books of Shep Paine. I loved his diorama’s and the shadow boxes. I’m trying to give information on a lot of topics and hope some modelers get the info they look for. Did you see my building projects an the self written articles of the website? Some advice or tips are always welcome.
