Great progress Jeremy, and a very nicely rendered figure,:+1::slightly_smiling_face:.

Man o man that’s a lot of top quality artwork going on there. Did I see this on FB ? Seems familiar. This right here would be about almost a years’ work if I did it. Lots going on.

Just catching up with this build… and Jeremy you have really pulled it off! I really like the contrast between the shades of grey and green on the armour. I look forward to it all coming together with a base.

They look fantastic- not over weathered at all.

Thanks, Gerald. I don’t use FB, so maybe another version. May end up taking me a year, too…

The basic base. I’m using GSW Beach Sand directly on the styrofoam and then Terraform Pacific as the top layer. It is possible to put track marks in the Terraform by pressing in spare tracks, no problem but have to moisten the tracks slightly.
Unfortunately, given the tiny size of the Terraform jar, I need another one to finish off.

Palm trees are made from these, with Magic Sculpt for the ends… Pretty cheap and easy. From my references, it shows the bottom third of the trunk less defined and the top more ring-like. The twine can be slightly unraveled for variation in the trunk.

Here is one…

Nice work on the palms man !!! Overall one of the coolest builds I’ve seen .

Check your original ref pics , the Shermies appear to be on hard coral , not really seeing any tank tracks . Other pics of the T97 appear to be in what we here on the beach [ L.B.I. N.J. ] call " sugar sand " very , very loose sand inland from the shoreline that falls in onitself , so no tracks here . I drive on the beach all the time [ surf fisherman ] . The only time tracks are left is in the shoreline wash of packed sand .

Jeremy the face on that crouching figure is phenomenal. The whole figure is fantastic, but the face is outstanding.

Thanks very much, Glenn.I get your points. Agree about the Japanese tank on loose sand.
For me, it looks like Killer is on damp, compacted coral sand indicated by the slightly darker colour in several images. Maybe a ground water effect with water seeping upwards at high tide. Apparently, this is common on atolls like Roi-Namur. Not sure.
I hadn’t thought about differentiating the types of sand in the diorama, but I may remove the track marks as I can’t see any marks in the photos either.
The left rear of the diorama doesn’t tie in exactly with the references, anyway. That part is a montage.
