A sandy Lulubelle. Pretty much done. Killer will be easier than this to finish, for sure.

Killer waiting for decals and dusting… and chipping…

With both of these builds turning out like they have, I’d say they’re perfect.

Appreciate the SBS and materials used, and naturally the historical accuracy.

Lulubelle really shows how hot, dry, and dusty conditions must have been.

Made me thirsty just thinking about that.

Thanks for sharing :+1: Cheers

Thanks Dave. I’ve actually over-weathered Lulubelle since those pics to try to learn how to approach Killer in a more subdued way. I’d be interested to hear what you think when I finish the weathering on both Unlike many, I prefer more weathering than less, but it does knock down shading and chipping effects…

Oh I got you, believe me. Even though it’s been many years since I did so I personally had a tendency to over weather a build or whtvr, usually w the dry brushing.:worried: Not always easy to show restraint, less is more etc.

That’s really why, IMHO, Lulubelle turned out so nice. Dusty conditions were an understatement on some of those island campaigns.

We should start a sub-group – the Over-Weathermen?

Haha. Too much weathering is never enough!

Loaded up… base and figures to come

Actually, I realized the rear wheels of the tankette are floating in the air… bit of surgery then on to the base etc.

Managed to pull apart both rear wheel and suspension systems without destroying the tankette, thankfully. Had to cut away existing shock absorbers and scratch build longer ones. I guess I learnt how that system works… sits properly anyway.

Ahha , made it here .

Very , very , very cool , a scale modeler’s greatest comment is “ it looks like the real deal " and you’ve checked that box easily . The weld bead on the wading stacks , aces , what appears to be a broken phone box in red primer [ my guess , correct me if I’m wrong ] on the left rear next to the wading stack , aces , dust/weathering , aces , exactly what you’ld expect to see on a PTO tank .

Overall attention to every conciveable detail !!! …………………….. cool .

Wow what an impressive “fix” you’ve pulled off! Appreciate all the skill and effort you’ve poured into this. An unusual build subject to say the least! Looking frwd to the figures.

Bravo

Thanks, Dave, yeah I was a bit lucky to manage it. Could have been tears before bedtime…

Thanks, Glenn. I think some would say I’m over-weathering but the reference photos show a fair bit of dust, so I tried to follow those. Yes, removed phone box I believe.

When I saw the photo of the scene first as a teenager (in one of the Arms and Armor press books) it sparked my interest and I dreamed of once doing the particular scene in model. The thought somehow slipped my mind over time and now you did it! And probably much better than I would ever have been able to do it! Really a great project and excellently executed!

A crew for Lulubelle. Modified Masterbox figure. Bit of a practice figure before Killer crew.
