I bought two Land Rovers from Hobby Boss to start with.
I have started building a composite of two models. I will have some questions (perhaps someone can assist), but that will be a bit later.
I already have a question. The photo shows a different design above the driver and passenger. Isn’t there a slanted bar between them, as in the photo of the dark vehicle?
@barny ???
Today I bought the third model (Hard top) to build one from three. I’ll probably be able to assemble something from the other two as well. The base is painted, now I’ll work on the driver’s and passenger’s compartments.
I modified the cage frame as suggested. It’s not perfect, but most of it will disappear under the load and equipment. The base is WMIK, front grille and cage from Hard Top, steering wheel on the left side from RSOV. I already know I made two mistakes. There should be no side storage compartments or air intakes on the front wheel arches. Well, my mistake
Does anyone have any knowledge about the electronics used in these vehicles? You can see antennas (SINGCARS?), SATCOM antennas, but where are they mounted and what kind of radio stations are they?
I’m sorry I can’t assist with the questions as I know nothing about the actual vehicle. Hopefully someone here can help out.
In the meantime, I’m enjoying your build, as always.
Mario
The electronics issue remains unresolved. I will only have antennas. I am slowly starting to add more equipment. The real fun will begin when I try to make improvised front windows.
What time frame is this? I have photos of some of the British equipment as I had a similar question for a few Iraq War Landies.
The Lithuanian Special Operations Forces units have participated in a number of missions. From 2002 to 2004 squadrons of the Aitvaras were deployed to the “Enduring Freedom” operation in Afghanistan. Preparedness and execution of tasks by the SOF squadrons have been especially noted by the coalition partners.[6]
From 2005 to 2006, the Lithuanian Special Operations Forces was on the operational half-year stand-by period in the NATO Response Force. Since the autumn 2007, SOF have taken part in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force mission in southern Afghanistan.[7] In 2008 soldiers of the SOF continued their service in the NATO Response Force.
I can only tell you what’s been used more recently, not back then
In January 2025, Lithuania signed contracts worth about US$25 million to acquire man-pack radios from L3Harris Technologies which are to be integrated into its vehicles, specifically the JLTV and the Boxer.
In 2019, Lithuania signed an €8.7 million contract with Harris Global Communications for communication systems in its M113
Harris radio systems have been in use with Lithuanian units for decades, which I guess shows a propensity to use U.S. communication equipment.
Lithuania sought Strykers in 2015, with one (AN/PRC-152 Radio per vehicle among other U.S. compatible systems.
I’d go with US from your time frame.
I thought it was Harris. The question is, where was it installed? If it was in the rear, it won’t be visible now anyway. If it was near the front passenger seat, then I can think of something else.
A bit too late

Coming along …the weapon cage on the kit is too high…but as you say too late now
I don’t quite understand. Following Rob’s suggestion, I used a cage from LR Hard Top. I didn’t lift anything. I only moved the cross members of the cage.
The hobby boss roll cage and the wmik cage are too tall by around 3/4 mm thus making it above where it should be .
