LED Wiring Help

hi guys! hoping to find someone with more knowledge than myself about wiring in some lights to my diorama project. total of 13 lights. id like them all to come on with 1 switch. wiring is not my strong suit so knowing what size resistors etc is killing me!

What is the V+ you are supplying?

That said, you should be good with 1K.

Bear in mind that LEDs must be hooked up correctly. Pay attention to anode and cathode side. There are several online tutorials, especially on model railroad sites, that can help you.

i currently have a 6v (4-D batteries) holder that i was planning on using. light 1 - 9 are SMD led (says can work on 3V or 12V), lights 10-14 are flickering led’s, which says can be connected directly to 12V (control and resistor).

I haven’t orderd anything from these folks, yet. And there is no relation between my name and theirs, other than coincidence. All your LED needs for minatures seems very well laid out on the site. It may be worth a look.

Seriously, no relation. :face_without_mouth:

there’s lots of tutorials on YouTube for it. This one is aimed at beginners….

How to wire up and use LEDs (explained for beginners)

roughly for a 9v battery you can wire 5 LEDs in series before you run out of volts. This means a slightly more complicated arrangement of having the LEDs in parallel. this means the voltage across 2 LEDs would be 1.8v but the current is then doubled.

this is fairly explanatory for that

Wiring LEDs Correctly: Series & Parallel Circuits Explained

you can have a mix of series and parallel on the same circuit. it’s just calculating the voltage drop and current required. sounds easy eh….. :high_voltage:

i should have know this by now but every time i come across some wiring i need to do, seems everything has been forgotten.

i attached a diagram of my lighting, hoping someone has some input if looks good or not!

Appreciate the help everyone.

+1 on the Evan Designs recommendation. Check them out. They will have everything that you need (and then some!).
