Thought about what you said about using the letters - not the template, for the ……lettering. I could paint the container doors in black, position the letters then finish in yellow.
I think thats how you were suggesting it?

I still think it would be easier to create your own decals.
I think this gonna have to be the route to go, I did not realize how small the letters were. At around a mm that is really small for the cricut. I tried some test cuts but the letter tore
Mead, you mean make my own?
Yeah either source decals or make them. I tried my best to get the small letters to cut cleanly and it didn’t work
Well, thanks very much for trying. I appreciate your help.
No problem, I feel bad I couldn’t help. I hope you can source something easily
Having acquired both sets, here’s a comparison between FSG and Unicormodels Hapag-LLoyd decal sheets. The 1/35 Trumpeter kit represent a 40ft High Cube Container which became currently used by the mid 2000s. The FSG set matches perfectly if you want to make a 40ft HC Container with the new Hapag-LLoyd logo as seen in international trade by the late 2000s. The set is complete with all the stencils and markings needed to make two containers. The Unicormodels set is better if you want to use it for older Hapag-Lloyd container, although I feel the logo is a bit too small for a 1/35 kit, it would match better for 1/48 kit I think. Unicormodels made it much better with the MSC logo wich I would use later on for anther model.
Here’s is my Trumpeter 40ft HC container with FSG decals:
Really nice to see the lengths and time some people will go to so they can try and help out another modeller. Brings back a bit of faith in good karma.
Indeed Johnny, its amazing, the time some people will contribute as you say.
Hi ChadRach and thanks so much for this info. The news that this type of container was only introduced in the 2000’s is sad as the rig it comes with seems to be dated mid ‘90’s.
I wonder if ive got that wrong or did Trumpie mismatch the (early) version of M915 with the ‘tainer?
The build you did there is beautiful and your info on decals is appreciated. I bought the MSL sheet from Unicorn and now have a modelling buddy looking at printing the various lettering needed to finish the ‘tainer.
Maybe I should use the second M915 I bought (to make a tandem trailer for a Real Model M800 tractor) to update to a mid-2000’s version.
Hello Denimo, I really don’t know why Trumpeter chose to make a modern container kit, and especially a High Cube one which is higher than a regular 40ft container. I may be wrong but the trumpeter kit doesn’t suit much if you want to make a container from the 70s or the 80s.
My plan was to build one used to take freight from the docks to rear-area bases during Op Desert Storm.
Stupid of me to assume Trumpie would provide a “matching” truck, trailer and container.
Maybe, as I mentioned, a later version of the M915 could be built for use with this container during Op Iraqui Freedom.
Trumpeter’s version isn’t totally wrong. The original M915 truck was used during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) by Army Reserve and National Guard units. They did pull the M872A1 trailers as well. I am sure they had this type of container for a load on many occasions.
Youre talking about their use in OIF, right?
Yes, they were used in the early years of OIF (until about 2007 or so) by Army National Guard and Reserve Transportation units. My guess is one of these trucks is what Trumpeter based their kit on.
Excellent news Gino. I’ll finish it off as planned. (The decal sheet shows South Dakota NG.)
